Ending Notes

Zhou Xiulan uses a false military map to lure enemy forces into an Eighth Route Army ambush and sacrifices herself in the process. In the modern timeline, the recovered map fragments are restored and her story is taught to younger military-surveying students, completing the series' theme of intergenerational remembrance. The mission succeeds, but the heroine's death makes the ending bittersweet.
