Should You Watch Fall in You?
If you enjoy modern romances featuring powerful executives, protective male leads, lots of kissing, and couples who actually get married before the finale, this drama has plenty to offer.
The romance progresses early enough to provide meaningful relationship development.
Fan Zhixin is especially convincing in his commanding executive role.
The biggest drawback is the adopted uncle/niece relationship, which creates an uncomfortable family dynamic even though the characters aren't biologically related.
My recommendation: Worth considering if you can overlook the pseudo-family romance premise and want an affectionate couple with a happy ending.
For me, it's a 3/5.
My Review: Another Pseudo-Uncle and Niece Romance?! 😭
SO. MUCH. KISSING. 💋😂
Seriously, this drama wasn't shy about letting the main couple kiss.
But then we have ANOTHER pseudo-uncle and niece relationship?!
WHYYYYY?! 🤦♀️
Apparently, Chinese drama writers have decided that complicated family trees are romantic now.
And yes, before anyone says they're not blood-related, I KNOW!
Gu Jingyuan is the adopted son of Qiao Yan's grandfather, which makes him her uncle through adoption.
Does that technically mean they're not blood relatives? Yes.
Does that automatically make the family relationship less awkward?
NOT TO ME! 😭
I swear, we keep running into these pseudo-family romance setups.
At least this drama gives its main couple an actual romantic relationship, proper kissing scenes, and a wedding before the final episode.
That part I can appreciate!
The Story: Revenge, Family Secrets, and Forbidden Romance
Qiao Yan's life changes when her parents die in a suspicious car accident.
Her grandfather, Gu Changfeng, brings her back into the wealthy Gu family.
But Qiao Yan isn't simply returning to enjoy a comfortable life.
She wants to investigate her parents' deaths.
Her suspicions lead her toward Gu Jingyuan, the grandfather's adopted son and a powerful figure within the family corporation.
Initially, Qiao Yan approaches him because she suspects he may know something about the tragedy.
But their relationship gradually changes as she learns more about his past and discovers that his seemingly cold personality conceals a protective side.
Naturally, their growing attraction becomes a huge problem because of their family connection.
Their romance develops alongside corporate power struggles, buried secrets, and a revenge investigation.
👔 Fan Zhixin — Another Executive Role, Another Great Performance!
FAN ZHIXIN! ❤️
I swear, this man knows exactly how to play these powerful corporate executives! 😂
He plays Gu Jingyuan, who becomes President of Gu Corporation, and once again, he pulls off this kind of role amazingly well.
The commanding presence, the cold exterior, the authority — he's so convincing in these roles!
Seriously, he plays this type of character all the time, and somehow he keeps making it work.
I really think he's amazing in these roles.
Now, if only the writers could give him all that kissing WITHOUT making him someone's pseudo-uncle! 😭🤦♀️
💋 The Kissing Department Was BUSY
One thing I certainly cannot complain about is the kissing!
This couple gets proper romantic kisses rather than making viewers survive an entire drama for one tiny peck in the finale.
The romantic relationship becomes official in Episode 13.
And by Episode 15?
THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED!
YES, AN ACTUAL WEDDING! ❤️
There are additional affectionate scenes after marriage, including romantic closeness and implied marital intimacy.
So the drama offers more than just an early confession followed by endless waiting.
Of course, the writers couldn't possibly allow them to remain peacefully married.
We still get secrets, family opposition, manipulation, and a divorce crisis.
Apparently, marriage wasn't enough drama. 😂
👑 Qiao Yan — More Than Just a Love Interest
Qiao Yan has her own reasons for returning to the Gu family.
She's investigating her parents' deaths while navigating powerful people who may be hiding important information.
She gradually becomes involved in the corporation's affairs and eventually takes responsibility for the family business.
I appreciate that the story gives its heroine an active role in uncovering the truth instead of leaving every important decision to the male lead.
However, her romance with Gu Jingyuan becomes inseparable from the family's increasingly complicated history.
And honestly, that pseudo-uncle relationship is still difficult for me to overlook. 🙄
Does Fall in You Have a Happy Ending?
YES — HAPPY ENDING. ❤️
Qiao Yan and Gu Jingyuan remain together.
Their happy ending comes after a genuinely dangerous final confrontation.
In Episode 24, Qin Ziyu kidnaps Qiao Yan and threatens both her and Gu Jingyuan.
Gu Jingyuan rushes to rescue her and suffers a serious stab wound.
He loses significant blood and remains unconscious in the hospital.
Qiao Yan is devastated but eventually returns to managing Gu Corporation while continuing to visit him.
Gu Jingyuan wakes up.
The finale then moves forward three months, showing that he has recovered.
He purchases the Rose Theater for Qiao Yan so she can pursue what she loves.
He also presents her with another ring.
They reaffirm their commitment to each other, and the drama concludes with the couple looking toward their future together.
Final relationship status: Married and together.
Nobody needs to reincarnate, travel back in time, or wait for another lifetime.
THANK YOU! 😂❤️
Does Fall in You Have a Breakup or Divorce?
Serious divorce request in Episode 20, not confirmed as a completed divorce. The Episode 21 breakup is staged.
This one needs an actual explanation.
In Episode 20, Qiao Yan is upset that Gu Jingyuan concealed important information about his family background.
She feels hurt that he did not trust her enough to face the truth together.
She asks for a divorce.
Gu Jingyuan refuses to agree and wants to repair their marriage.
Later, Qiao Yan deliberately makes Qin Ziyu believe she has separated from Gu Jingyuan.
This is part of their investigation, not a genuine new romantic breakup.
By Episode 22, their cooperation is clear.
Relationship classification:
- Real marital conflict: YES.
- Divorce requested: YES.
- Completed legal divorce verified: NO.
- Staged breakup: YES.
- Main couple reconciles: YES.
- Together at the end: YES.
This distinction matters. The story contains genuine marital strain, but the later breakup performance is a strategy, not the end of their relationship.

Final Thoughts
Lots of kissing?
YES! 💋
Fan Zhixin being amazing at another powerful corporate executive role?
ABSOLUTELY! ❤️
Another pseudo-uncle/niece relationship that makes me wonder why writers keep reaching for these family connections?
UNFORTUNATELY, ALSO YES! 😭😂
At least the romance develops before the finale, the couple actually gets married, and the ending doesn't permanently destroy their relationship.
I appreciate a drama that gives its couple proper romantic moments instead of saving everything for the final five minutes.
But I still cannot ignore that uncomfortable adopted-family setup.
My Final Rating: 3/5 ⭐
Status: FINISHED
Ending: HAPPY ENDING
