I gave Legend of Zang Hai a 4.5/5, and one thing I absolutely have to mention is the leading man.
Xiao Zhan plays Zang Hai, a revenge-driven strategist who can maneuver through a dangerous imperial court using his intelligence. He's not your typical sword-swinging hero. His biggest weapon is his brain.
And apparently, he's also collecting applications for my Husband Hall. π
I'm putting Xiao Zhan on the candidate list. Whether he gets officially admitted remains to be seen. The competition is fierce around here. π
Should You Watch Legend of Zang Hai?
Yes, especially if you enjoy intelligent male leads, elaborate revenge schemes, and political intrigue.
- Biggest strength: A clever, calculating protagonist played by Xiao Zhan.
- Biggest romance drawback: The relationship doesn't become official until Episode 31.
- Best audience: Viewers who enjoy plotting, hidden identities, betrayal, and political power struggles.
- My rating: 4.5/5.
Just don't go into this expecting a romance-heavy drama with nonstop kissing. The revenge storyline is the main event.
What's Legend of Zang Hai About?
Zhi Nu survives the massacre of his family and spends ten years preparing to avenge their deaths.
He eventually returns to the capital under the name Zang Hai, armed with knowledge of architecture, geomancy, and political strategy.
His original plan is to destroy the powerful people responsible for his family's murder. Unfortunately, uncovering the truth means entering an increasingly complicated web of political conspiracies.
Along the way, he meets Xiang An Tu, a resourceful woman hiding a royal identity of her own.
Their relationship becomes entangled with his revenge, competing loyalties, and a dangerous secret surrounding the mysterious Gui Seal.
Does Legend of Zang Hai Have a Happy Ending?
Yes! Zang Hai and Xiang An Tu survive and end up together in Episode 40, leaving the capital to begin a new life.

There is no confirmed wedding or pregnancy. Their final relationship status is an established couple leaving together.

That doesn't mean everyone survives, though. Zang Hai suffers significant personal losses along the way.
