China's National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) has published its third-quarter 2026 drama licensing report, giving viewers a clearer picture of which television and online productions received permission for distribution between July and September.

The bulletin was made public on October 23, 2026, and covers licenses granted from July 1 through September 30. The report itself is dated October 22. In other words, this is a newly published quarterly summary—not an announcement that every drama named in coverage was approved today.

125 productions · 1,652 episodes

32 television dramas totaling 911 episodes, plus 93 online dramas totaling 741 episodes, according to the NRTA's official Q3 report.

What Does the Q3 2026 Licensing Report Confirm?

The NRTA says 125 domestic television and online dramas were completed and approved for distribution during the quarter. Of these, 32 were television dramas and 93 were online dramas. The television category included 10 historical-theme productions; the online category included 31 historical-theme productions, using the regulator's broad classifications.

A distribution license is an important regulatory milestone. It does not confirm an episode premiere date, a particular streaming service in the United States, English subtitles, or that every episode is already available to watch.

Four Upcoming Dramas Drawing Attention

Several well-known titles had licensing developments reported earlier in the quarter. Their individual approval dates should not be confused with the October 23 publication of the nationwide summary.

Night Wanderer (夜旅人)

The long-delayed time-crossing romance Night Wanderer was reported in September as receiving approval in a 24-episode version, with Ni Ni (倪妮) and Fu Xinbo (付辛博) named in contemporary coverage. The story connects a woman living in the present with a man from an earlier era. No official premiere date is confirmed here. Details of reported casting and post-production changes should be treated separately from the regulatory approval itself.

Three-Line Mystery (三线谜回)

Three-Line Mystery, starring Meng Ziyi (孟子义) and Wang Hongyi (王弘毅), was reported as approved in September for 24 episodes. Sohu Entertainment publicly acknowledged its approval on September 14. Adapted from a work by Wei Yu (尾鱼), the drama mixes mystery, unusual underwater phenomena and adventure. A license is not a confirmed Tencent Video launch date, so rumored release windows remain excluded.

Dragon Bone Burning Case (龙骨焚箱)

The fantasy-mystery drama Dragon Bone Burning Case, with Jing Tian (景甜) and Zhang Binbin (张彬彬), was reported to have received approval in August for 32 episodes. The actors previously appeared together in Rattan (司藤). The regulatory progress is encouraging for viewers waiting for the reunion, but no official premiere date is established by the Q3 notice.

Cousin's Fortune (表妹万福)

For Cousin's Fortune, the approval is especially clear: the Fujian Radio and Television Bureau published a notice confirming that the 35-episode historical drama received its nationwide distribution license on September 11, 2026. The series stars Song Zuer (宋祖儿) and Chen Xinhai (陈鑫海). That September license is now part of the quarter being summarized, rather than a new October approval.

When Will These Dramas Premiere?

That is the next question—and the regulatory report cannot answer it. Permission to distribute and a platform's decision to schedule a drama are separate steps. Until the official drama account or streaming service announces a date, a rumored October, November or December release should not be presented as confirmed.

For U.S. viewers, international distribution, actual playback access and English subtitles also require separate verification. I would rather keep those details marked as pending than send readers searching for episodes that are not available yet.

What to Watch Next

The most useful follow-ups will be official release-date announcements, full trailers, platform schedules and verified international streaming plans for the individual titles. This report is an important licensing update, not four newly announced premieres.
