Tencent Video Reveals 2027 C-Drama Lineup Including Joy of Life 3 and Sword Snow Stride 2

Tencent Video has unveiled its 2027 drama lineup, bringing several highly anticipated Chinese drama sequels back into the spotlight.

Announced on October 28, 2026, during Tencent Video's V Vision promotional event, the lineup includes Joy of Life Season 3, Sword Snow Stride Season 2, Guardians of the Dafeng Season 2, and Three-Body: The Dark Forest.

The platform also highlighted new historical dramas, fantasy adaptations, science-fiction productions, contemporary romances, and crime thrillers.

For viewers waiting for updates on major drama franchises, the announcement offers a clearer picture of Tencent Video's upcoming programming plans.

However, there's an important distinction: inclusion in the 2027 lineup does not mean that every drama has a confirmed 2027 premiere date.

Joy of Life 3 and Other Popular Historical Drama Sequels

One of the biggest highlights is the continued presence of three major historical drama franchises.

Joy of Life Season 3 (庆余年第三季)

Joy of Life remains one of the most recognizable historical drama franchises in recent years.

The third installment appears in Tencent Video's newly released lineup, reaffirming the platform's plans to continue the series.

The story's combination of political intrigue, humor, family secrets, and complicated relationships has made the franchise particularly memorable.

For viewers awaiting the next chapter, its appearance on the official lineup is encouraging. Nevertheless, the announcement should not be mistaken for a confirmed premiere schedule.

Sword Snow Stride Season 2 (雪中悍刀行第二季)

Sword Snow Stride is also included in Tencent Video's historical drama selections.

The original series followed Xu Fengnian through a world of martial arts, political maneuvering, and family obligations.

The second season's inclusion signals that the franchise remains part of Tencent Video's future programming plans.

Specific broadcast dates and a complete updated production schedule were not established by the lineup announcement.

Guardians of the Dafeng Season 2 (大奉打更人第二季)

Guardians of the Dafeng joins the returning franchises featured in the platform's historical drama category.

The series combines investigation, fantasy, comedy, and martial arts within a historically inspired setting.

Its second season is among the projects Tencent Video continues to promote, although viewers will still need to wait for a separately confirmed release schedule.

Together, these three sequels demonstrate the platform's continued investment in recognizable drama franchises.

Three-Body Expands With New Science-Fiction Productions

Tencent Video's science-fiction lineup is another major part of the announcement.

Several productions connected to well-known literary properties appear among the platform's upcoming projects.

Three-Body: The Dark Forest (三体：黑暗森林)

The upcoming adaptation of Liu Cixin's The Dark Forest is featured in the lineup.

It forms part of the continuing live-action Three-Body television franchise, based on Liu Cixin's internationally recognized science-fiction novels.

The production had already announced an initial cast lineup earlier in 2026. Its inclusion in the October 28 presentation represents renewed platform promotion rather than the first announcement of the project.

Three-Body: Da Shi (三体·大史)

Another project, Three-Body: Da Shi, also appears in Tencent Video's lineup.

This installment focuses on the Three-Body universe through the character Shi Qiang, commonly known as Da Shi.

Its production plans had been discussed publicly before the October 28 presentation, so its appearance here should be understood as part of the wider franchise showcase.

Other Science-Fiction Titles

Additional highlighted projects include:

• Supernova Era (超新星纪元): Another adaptation of a science-fiction novel by Liu Cixin, with Shen Yan attached as director and Nie Chengshuai as screenwriter.
• The Wandering Earth Short Film Collection (流浪地球短片集): A separate project connected to the Wandering Earth property.
• Ten-Day End (十日终焉): A suspense and speculative-fiction project featured in the platform's fantasy-oriented selections.

The range of titles suggests that Tencent Video is expanding its science-fiction offerings alongside its established historical and fantasy dramas.

Sword of Coming and New Historical Fantasy Projects

Beyond returning franchises, Tencent Video highlighted several additional historical and fantasy adaptations.

Among them is Jian Lai (剑来), also commonly rendered as Sword of Coming, a project based on a popular fantasy novel.

Other titles appearing in the historical drama category include:

• Bu Rang Jiang Shan (不让江山)
• Yue Ming Qian Li (月明千里)
• Jun You Yun (君有云)

These projects give the platform's lineup more variety beyond its established sequels.

Historical fantasy, martial arts, court politics, and literary adaptations remain prominent parts of Tencent Video's programming strategy.

Contemporary Romance and Other Upcoming Dramas

Romance viewers also have several projects to follow.

Tencent Video's October 28 presentation included:

• Deng Feng Re Wen Ni (等风热吻你) — starring Yang Yang and Chen Duling.
• Ai Zai Wu Jin Xia (爱在无尽夏) — starring Ding Yuxi and Meng Ziyi.
• Di Er Shi Ba Nian Chun (第二十八年春) — starring Wang Tianchen and Guo Xiaoting.
• Jing Luo Zai Wu Jia Ren (京洛再无佳人) — another romance adaptation in the platform's lineup.

These productions were presented alongside projects spanning other genres, including crime investigations, contemporary family stories, and historical dramas.

The variety is notable. Although Tencent Video continues to emphasize established historical franchises, contemporary romance remains an important part of its future offerings.

Does Tencent Video's 2027 Lineup Confirm Premiere Dates?

No. The lineup announcement is not the same as an official release schedule.

The October 28 presentation identifies projects that Tencent Video is promoting as part of its upcoming drama slate.

It does not establish that every listed production will premiere in 2027.

Individual projects may be at different stages of development, filming, post-production, or release preparation.

For viewers outside mainland China, the announcement also does not confirm U.S. streaming availability or English subtitles for each drama.

Those details will need to be verified separately through official platform and international distribution announcements.

What This Means for C-Drama Viewers

The most significant takeaway from Tencent Video's presentation is the scale and variety of its upcoming programming.

Major sequels such as Joy of Life 3, Sword Snow Stride 2, and Guardians of the Dafeng 2 remain part of the platform's plans.

Meanwhile, Three-Body: The Dark Forest, Three-Body: Da Shi, and Supernova Era illustrate Tencent Video's continuing interest in ambitious science-fiction adaptations.

Historical fantasy and contemporary romance productions round out a lineup designed to appeal to several different audiences.

For now, the confirmed news is the October 28, 2026 lineup announcement, not a guaranteed premiere window for every title.

Shen Zhiyi Writes Reviews will continue following official updates, including filming announcements, trailers, confirmed premiere dates, and international streaming availability.
