About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

My Review

I really enjoyed this one.

4/5. ❤️

First of all:

AMAZING CAST.

And can we please talk about Liu Xiening finally getting her flowers?! 😭👏

I have seen this woman show up in other dramas as the supporting female character and thought, Why is she not getting her own full-length drama already?

I especially remember her as Shen Zhiyi in Story of Kunning Palace and Jiang Ruoyao in The Double.

She has the looks, presence, charisma, and acting ability to carry a drama.

Well.

SOMEONE FINALLY LISTENED. 😂

This is an important career step for her because Blossom Through the Cloud is her first full-length drama where she is the central female lead.

She did previously lead the short drama Night of Love with You, so this isn't literally her first time playing a heroine, and she also had a major ensemble role in Perfect Match.

But this is the first time she gets this much room in a proper long-form drama centered on her character.

And honestly?

She deserved it.

👩‍✈️ Ruan Sixian Is Actually Allowed to Have a Career

One of my favorite things about this drama is that Ruan Sixian's dream of becoming a pilot isn't just some decorative profession the writers forget about once the CEO falls in love with her.

She wants to fly.

BADLY.

When Hengshi Airlines cancels the internal pilot-training program she worked so hard to qualify for, she doesn't sit around waiting for Fu Mingyu to fix her life.

She quits, goes to flight school, graduates at the top of her class, and comes back three years later as somebody the airlines actually want.

That is the kind of FL I like. 👏

She's ambitious, capable, stubborn, competitive, and sometimes probably a little too stubborn for her own good—but she has an identity completely separate from the romance.

And I loved that.

❤️ Fu Mingyu & Ruan Sixian

Wei Zheming and Liu Xiening have really good chemistry.

Their early dynamic is basically:

Him: I am an extremely serious airline executive.

Her: I cannot stand this man.

Him several episodes later: So anyway, I have reorganized my entire emotional existence around her. 😂

Fu Mingyu starts off arrogant enough that I wanted somebody to smack him with an aircraft safety manual, but the transformation once he realizes he's in love is hilarious.

This man goes from cold airline executive to clingy boyfriend mode.

And importantly, he respects the thing Ruan Sixian cares about most:

flying.

His own father even suggests that he could simply marry her and have her stop flying, and Fu Mingyu rejects the entire idea because he knows that would destroy the woman he loves.

👏👏👏

THAT is how you write a supportive ML.

And then in Episode 23 this fool literally BUYS HER A PLANE as a birthday gift.

Sir.

A PLANE.

Apparently flowers were insufficient. 😭😂✈️

🔥 Chemistry & Kissing

Thankfully, the drama does not make us wait until Episode 24 for crumbs.

Fu Mingyu formally asks Ruan Sixian to be his girlfriend in Episode 13.

She doesn't immediately answer because she's scared of getting hurt, but by Episode 14 we get the famous elevator kiss and they're officially together.

After that, the relationship actually feels like a relationship.

We get:

Forehead kisses. Public kisses. Jealousy. Domestic scenes. Hugging. Flirting. Kitchen-counter kissing. Boyfriend/girlfriend behavior.

There is even a scene where Ruan Sixian's friends discover she wrote “great kissing skills” on her list of Fu Mingyu's positive qualities.

MA'AM. 😂😭🔥

Thank you for your scientific contribution.

🙄 The Breakup Tax

Unfortunately, the C-drama gods demanded payment.

There is one genuine breakup in Episode 21.

After Ruan Sixian successfully handles a dangerous emergency landing, the company board starts questioning whether Fu Mingyu's defense of her is influenced by the fact that she's his girlfriend.

She becomes terrified that their relationship is damaging both her career credibility and his position, so she ends things.

So yes, this is an actual breakup—not an argument, misunderstanding, temporary work separation, or “we're mad at each other for twenty minutes.”

Thankfully it does not drag forever.

They are back together in Episode 23.

Two episodes.

I survived. 😂

And I did appreciate that the reason is connected to one of Ruan Sixian's biggest fears:

She wants people to know she earned her pilot career herself rather than assuming her CEO boyfriend handed it to her.

✈️ The Aviation Story

This was actually much better than the usual “professional drama where nobody seems to do their profession.” 😂

There are simulator sessions, assessments, airline politics, flight procedures, pilot advancement, emergencies, and actual career stakes.

The show even lets Ruan Sixian fail an important assessment before later proving herself during a real emergency.

So when she finally succeeds, it feels like something she earned, not something the script handed her because we're approaching Episode 24.

💕 The Ending

Happy Ending.

No reincarnation.

No “maybe they meet again someday.”

No mysterious staring into the distance.

No main lead dying after we invested 24 episodes in them.

THANK YOU. 😂

Fu Mingyu proposes in Episode 24.

Ruan Sixian doesn't immediately accept—not because she doesn't want him, but because she has her F7 assessment coming up and wants to finish that goal first.

And I actually liked that.

Even at the very end, her career still matters.

Once the exam is done, she accepts the proposal.

The finale gives us bridal imagery, Ruan Sixian arriving in a wedding dress, Fu Mingyu waiting for her, and a big romantic kiss on the tarmac.

That's what I call landing the plane properly. 😭❤️✈️

⭐ Final Rating: 4/5

Finished. Happy Ending.

Great cast, strong chemistry, an actually competent career-focused FL, a ML who becomes ridiculously devoted, plenty of romantic payoff, and a heroine who never has to give up her own dream just to get the man.

But one of my favorite things about this drama is still Liu Xiening finally getting the chance to carry a full-length drama as the FL.

I've watched her turn up as the supporting woman in other dramas for years.

ABOUT TIME. 😭👏❤️

And she absolutely looked like she belonged in the center of the story.

🔎 Reality Check — How Realistic Is the Aviation Side?

Surprisingly grounded for a romance drama.

This wasn't a production that just put everyone in pilot uniforms and hoped nobody asked questions. 😂

The production used aviation industry consultation, including pilot Sun Hui, whose own professional experience had similarities to Ruan Sixian's cabin-crew-to-pilot career path.

The show puts real attention into:

That doesn't mean every promotion, corporate conflict, or emergency is documentary-level realism.

The drama obviously compresses parts of career development for storytelling.

But compared with a lot of workplace romances, the aviation profession actually feels like part of the story rather than decoration.

Reality Check verdict: ✈️ More realistic than average for a C-drama workplace romance.
