A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

🌸 My Review

3/5 · Finished · Happy Ending

Okay, Dazzling was cute, but this drama made me WAIT. 😭

Thirty episodes.

THIRTY.

And Qing Ye and Xing Wu don't actually become boyfriend and girlfriend until Episode 29.

That is basically the romance arriving at the airport while the credits are already boarding. 😂

Then there is the approximately five-year no-contact separation before they finally get their lives together. Technically, it is not a breakup, because they had never officially started dating.

BUT.

There was the KOALA KISS. 🐨💋

I have to acknowledge the koala kiss. 😂

Once this drama finally remembered it was supposed to have romance, Episodes 29–30 suddenly gave us the lighthouse kiss, much more affection, adult intimacy, and yes — Qing Ye practically attaching herself to Xing Wu like a koala.

Honestly, after waiting that long, girl earned climbing privileges. 😂

🌊 The Story

Qing Ye's comfortable life collapses and she ends up living in a seaside town, where she meets Xing Wu.

He initially looks like trouble, but he is actually hardworking, loyal, protective, and carrying a ridiculous amount of responsibility for his family.

Thankfully Qing Ye is not one of those helpless FLs who spends the entire drama waiting to be rescued. She is smart, adaptable, stubborn, and capable.

The two gradually become incredibly important to each other long before either one manages to turn those feelings into an actual relationship.

Which is sweet.

It is also:

WHY DID YOU MAKE ME WAIT UNTIL EPISODE 29?! 😭

❤️ Qing Ye & Xing Wu

I liked these two together.

Xing Wu shows his feelings through actions. He protects Qing Ye without becoming ridiculously controlling, supports her goals, worries about her, and keeps loving her even when their lives pull them apart.

Qing Ye also builds her own life instead of revolving around him.

My biggest problem is that the drama gives us longing for almost the entire show instead of an actual relationship.

They fall for each other, separate for years, reconnect as adults, and only officially become a couple in Episode 29.

That structure is exactly why this stayed at 3/5 for me.

🐨 THE KOALA KISS

And then apparently somebody looked at the episode count and screamed:

“WE HAVE TWO EPISODES LEFT. DEPLOY THE KISSES.”

😂😂😂

The lighthouse kiss finally happens in Episode 29 and confirms their relationship.

Episode 30 gives us much more physical affection and adult intimacy.

And most importantly:

THE KOALA KISS. 🐨💋😂

Qing Ye basically attaches herself to this man like she has been waiting five years to climb him.

Which, technically…

she has.

💕 Ending

HAPPY ENDING.

No ambiguous reunion. No reincarnation loophole. No surprise death.

Qing Ye and Xing Wu are alive, openly together, affectionate, and committed to their relationship.

They are dating, not married or engaged, when the drama ends.

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check

Finished all 30 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.

💕 Romance
Slow-burn and extremely delayedSlow-burn and extremely delayed. The feelings are there much earlier than the actual relationship.
🔥 Chemistry
GoodGood. The yearning works, and the adult reunion chemistry is noticeably stronger.
💋 Kissing
Late kissing payoff 🐨💋Very limited for most of the drama, then suddenly a kissing buffet in Episodes 29–30. 😂 And yes, the koala kiss counts. 🐨💋
🤗 Skinship
Restrained, then affectionateRestrained during most of the slow burn; much better once they officially get together.
🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
ModerateModerate by C-drama standards. Episode 30 confirms adult intimacy without becoming explicit.
🚩 ML Red Flag
LowLow. Xing Wu is protective and devoted without becoming excessively controlling.

About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

⭐ Final Verdict — 3/5

I liked them more than I liked the romance pacing.

Xing Wu is devoted. Qing Ye is competent. They support each other, the chemistry works, and the ending is genuinely happy.

But an official relationship in Episode 29 of 30 plus a roughly five-year separation?

Girl. 😭

That is asking a lot from me.

Still…

there was the koala kiss. 🐨💋😂

And the koala kiss will be remembered.
