THE ROMANCE CHECK

Relationship spoilers below.

Does Eternal Love / TMOPB have a happy ending?
Yes. Bai Qian and Ye Hua are alive, reunited and together in Episode 58. First, his presumed death causes an approximately three-year separation.
When do Su Su and Ye Hua become official?
They fall in love in the mortal arc and perform a private marriage ceremony around Episode 14.
Are there breakups or separations?
There is a severe emotional rupture under Heavenly Palace abuse and manipulation, followed by an identity/memory separation. The final three-year separation follows presumed death, not a normal breakup.

They are separate characters, both portrayed by Mark Chao / Zhao Youting. Mo Yuan’s romantic feelings are Lady Zhizhi’s interpretation; he and Bai Qian are not presented here as an official couple.
What is the rating and watch status?
Finished — exactly 3.5/5. The Su Su Heavenly Palace suffering arc is the main reason it lost points.

💕 Romance
Epic romance, a private marriage, a forgotten family and a genuine reunion.
🔥 Chemistry
The central romance and emotional connection worked for me; Ye Hua’s devotion carries real weight.
💋 Kissing
Kissing frequency and first-kiss episode are not rated here
🤗 Skinship
Non-kissing affection is not rated here
🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
Implied adult intimacy, including the magical-clothes scene around Episode 44; no explicit-sex claim.
🚩 ML Red Flag
Devoted, but seriously inadequate protection during Su Su’s abuse; secrecy, power imbalance and bodily-autonomy concerns.
👑 Female Lead Competence
Bai Qian is powerful, proud and respected. As mortal Su Su, she is isolated without that power or status.
⏱️ Romance Timing
They fall in love during the mortal arc and privately marry around Episode 14, well before the finale.
❤️‍🔥 Relationship Payoff
The forgotten husband-and-child reunion worked beautifully for me; prolonged suffering cost it points.
💔 Breakup
Severe emotional rupture and loss of trust during Su Su’s palace life; no precise conventional-breakup count claimed.
⏳ Separation / Conflict
Identity/memory separation after Zhuxian Terrace; near the end, presumed death causes approximately three years apart.
💍 Final Relationship Status
Happy Ending: Bai Qian and Ye Hua survive, reunite in Episode 58, and end together in love.
📖 Plot
A huge fantasy romance I enjoyed overall; the prolonged Su Su Heavenly Palace suffering was my main criticism.
🐾 Animal Harm
Dog/cat harm: not established. Other animal harm has not been fully assessed.

🔎 Reality Check Meter

Overall Realism: 1/5 😂

This is a drama about nine-tailed fox gods, reincarnation, immortal cultivation, people sleeping for 70,000 years, magical objects and men who can apparently undress you without touching a single button.

Scientific realism was never invited to the Peach Blossom Forest. 😂

🪄 MAGIC UNDRESSING

Reality Check: 0/5 realism — 5/5 efficiency

I NEED to discuss Episode 44.

Bai Qian wakes up in bed with Ye Hua and realizes something important is missing.

HER CLOTHES.

She asks where they went.

And this man basically explains that the clothes were troublesome, so he used magic to take their clothes off.

SIR. 😭😂

No fumbling with robes.

No hairpins flying across the room.

No twenty-seven layers of ancient costume.

Ye Hua apparently looked at several thousand years of complicated clothing and said:

✨ MAGIC ✨

Honestly, if immortality came with this feature, I finally understand the appeal. 😂

Obviously, there is no real-world equivalent to magically removing someone’s clothing.

And through a modern consent lens, magically stripping another person before discussing it would be a serious boundary issue.

The drama, however, plays the scene as romantic intimacy between Bai Qian and Ye Hua rather than a threatening encounter.

Still…

Reality Check conclusion: Ye Hua discovered the celestial version of the “skip intro” button. 😭😂

👀 THE SU SU EYE TRANSPLANT

Reality Check: 1/5

And then we have the horrifying situation where Su Su’s eyes are removed and given to Su Jin.

Apparently Heavenly Medicine works like:

“You need eyes? She has eyes. Problem solved.” 🤦‍♀️

Real medicine is nowhere near that simple.

Whole-eye transplantation is an extraordinary medical frontier, and restoring normal functional vision requires solving major problems involving the optic nerve and its connection to the brain.

So the Heavenly Palace casually transferring functioning eyes from Su Su to Su Jin?

Medical realism: NO.

Xianxia cruelty: apparently YES. 😭

🧠 SU SU’S PSYCHOLOGICAL COLLAPSE

Reality Check: 4/5

THIS part is unfortunately much more believable than the magic.

Look at what happens to this woman:

  • She is taken away from her home.
  • She is isolated in an unfamiliar environment.
  • Almost everyone around her has more status and power than she does.
  • She is relentlessly targeted by Su Jin.
  • She is manipulated and humiliated.
  • She loses her eyesight.
  • Her relationship with Ye Hua appears to be falling apart.
  • She feels completely powerless.
  • She believes the man she loves has abandoned or betrayed her.

Then, after giving birth to A-Li, Su Su becomes so hopeless that she jumps from Zhuxian Terrace.

Her psychological deterioration does not come out of nowhere.

The drama piles trauma on top of trauma until she reaches complete despair.

So while I hated WATCHING it, I don’t think Su Su suddenly became irrational.

I think the Heavenly Palace systematically destroyed the poor woman’s sense of safety until she could not see a way out. 😭

🏯 HEAVENLY PALACE DECISION-MAKING

Reality Check: -47/5

These people have lived for THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

You would think immortality would eventually produce wisdom.

Apparently not. 😂

We have ancient gods making decisions like:

“A pregnant mortal woman is being bullied and psychologically destroyed. Should we intervene?”

Heaven:

“Hmm. Anyway.”

The political system is hierarchical, rigid, obsessed with status and deeply unfair to Su Su.

That works inside the fictional world.

But some of their individual decisions?

I refuse to believe you can live for 50,000 years and still have this little common sense. 😭

👑 FINAL REALITY CHECK VERDICT

Science: ❌ Medicine: ❌ Magic clothing removal: VERY ❌ 😂 Immortal common sense: Missing Psychological consequences of Su Su’s treatment: Unfortunately believable Ye Hua’s magical efficiency: Revolutionary

Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms gets a 1/5 Reality Check score, because basically none of this could happen in the real world.

But I will admit one thing:

If magic were real and I had to wear twelve layers of ancient robes every day?

I too would learn Ye Hua’s undressing spell immediately. 😂😭

These realism numbers are playful editorial judgments, not clinical scales. The immortal-common-sense score is a joke about this fictional world.

Medical context: NYU Langone performed a whole-eye and partial-face transplant in 2023; its January 2025 report described a viable eye without restored vision. Regenerating the optic nerve and reconnecting it to the brain remain major challenges. NYU Langone source ↗

Trauma context: Ongoing abuse and lack of support can intensify trauma symptoms; depression and suicidal thoughts may follow trauma. This supports the emotional plausibility of Su Su’s distress, not a diagnosis or an inevitable outcome. NIMH source ↗

About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

My Review

My mom had been telling me to watch Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms for a LONG time.

And I kept ignoring her. 😂

At the time, I wasn’t really into C-dramas yet, and then she tells me this thing has 58 episodes??

Absolutely not.

Meanwhile, my mom had apparently watched the entire drama TWICE. 😭😂

She kept insisting it was really good, and eventually I finally gave in.

And this is one of those annoying situations where I have to admit:

Mom was right.

😂

I actually really enjoyed this drama. The romance, the fantasy world, Bai Qian, Ye Hua, A-Li, Kunlun Xu, the costumes, the ridiculous immortal drama—I completely understand why this became such a huge C-drama.

I probably would have rated it even higher too.

Unfortunately, there was also the Su Su Heavenly Palace Arc From Hell™, and THAT is primarily why this ended up at 3.5/5 instead of something much higher.

Because apparently my mom watched Su Su suffer through all of that TWICE.

Mother.

WHY. 😭😂

🌸 The Story

Bai Qian is a powerful fox goddess whose life and love story stretches across multiple identities and lifetimes.

After losing her powers and memories, she becomes the mortal Su Su and meets Crown Prince Ye Hua.

They fall in love.

They get married.

They build their little life together.

And for approximately five minutes I was happy. 😂❤️

Then Heaven discovers her existence and apparently decides:

“You know what would be fun? Psychological warfare against a pregnant mortal woman.”

NO. 😭

The story eventually brings everything full circle when Bai Qian returns to her true identity without remembering her mortal life, and Ye Hua encounters the woman he believes he lost forever.

That part I loved.

There is something so good about Bai Qian unknowingly meeting her own husband and child while A-Li is basically standing there like:

MOTHER??? HELLO??? WE ARE YOUR FAMILY??? 😂

❤️ Bai Qian / Su Su

I liked Bai Qian.

She is powerful, respected, stubborn, proud, and definitely not someone who normally lets people walk all over her.

Which made watching her existence as Su Su even harder.

Su Su has no idea who she really is. She has none of Bai Qian’s status or power, and once she gets dragged into the Heavenly Palace she is surrounded by immortals who know she is vulnerable.

And they take FULL advantage of it.

Especially Su Jin.

The bullying just kept going and going until I was thinking:

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE GET THIS WOMAN OUT OF HERE?!

Eventually I started fast-forwarding some of the Heavenly Palace scenes because I was so irritated.

It stopped being entertaining angst for me and started feeling like the Su Su Suffering Olympics. 🙄

And then they took her EYES.

HER ACTUAL EYES.

Absolutely not.

🖤 Ye Hua

I liked Ye Hua.

I really did.

He’s deeply in love with Su Su/Bai Qian, he’s serious about her, and once he realizes Bai Qian is the woman he lost, this man is basically like:

I FOUND MY WIFE. I’M NOT LOSING HER AGAIN.

That part? Excellent. 😂❤️

But during the Su Su arc I wanted to reach through my screen and shake him.

Sir.

THAT IS YOUR WIFE.

Why is she being psychologically tortured in Heaven while you are the CROWN PRINCE?! 😭

I understand that Ye Hua is trapped by Heavenly politics, his grandfather’s authority, his responsibilities, and the fact that openly protecting Su Su could sometimes put her in even more danger.

I GET IT.

But emotionally?

I did not care. 😂

My brain was still screaming:

PROTECT YOUR WIFE BETTER.

The devotion was absolutely there.

The successful wife-protection statistics needed work. 😂

😈 Su Jin — MA’AM, PLEASE FIND A HOBBY

Su Jin drove me insane.

Imagine having immortality.

Thousands upon thousands of years of existence.

An entire magical universe.

And you decide to dedicate your life to:

a man who does not want you.

Girl.

PLEASE.

Take up painting.

Learn an instrument.

Start a garden.

Travel the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses.

DO SOMETHING. 😭😂

Instead, her obsession with Ye Hua turns into cruelty toward Su Su, manipulation, scheming, and ultimately one of the most miserable stretches of the entire drama.

I love a good villain when they’re entertaining.

Su Jin mostly made me angry.

👶 A-Li Was One of My Favorite Parts

A-Li is ADORABLE. 😭❤️

And I really loved what he added to Bai Qian and Ye Hua’s reunion.

Bai Qian doesn’t remember being Su Su.

She doesn’t remember loving Ye Hua.

She doesn’t remember giving birth to A-Li.

Meanwhile Ye Hua remembers EVERYTHING.

And poor little A-Li basically sees Bai Qian and goes:

MOM!!!

😭

I loved watching Bai Qian slowly get pulled toward this family she doesn’t realize is already hers.

There’s something incredibly romantic about discovering:

  • you already fell in love with this man,
  • you already married him,
  • you already had his child,
  • and apparently you had an ENTIRE LIFE that you erased from your memory.

That whole concept worked so well for me.

🤦‍♀️ Mo Yuan / Sifu

Now Sifu…

I actually liked Mo Yuan.

And this is what makes him so frustrating. 😂

Because the man clearly cared about Bai Qian long before Ye Hua entered the picture.

Their bond was deep. She adored him. He protected her. He knew her as Si Yin, understood her better than most people, and there was obviously something there.

So naturally, what does this extremely powerful ancient High God do with those feelings?

NOTHING.

Sir.

You have lived for HOW LONG?

You have survived wars, gods, demons, cultivation, celestial politics…

and you cannot say:

“Hey, I like you.”

😭😂

Instead, Mo Yuan chooses the most xianxia-romantic-but-also-completely-useless option possible:

He sacrifices himself.

And dies.

FOR 70,000 YEARS.

Excellent timing, Sifu.

Absolutely flawless romantic strategy. 😂

I do understand that his sacrifice was heroic and necessary, and Bai Qian’s devotion to preserving his body shows just how important he was to her.

That part was actually touching.

But romantically?

I was still sitting there thinking:

YOU ALREADY LIKED HER. SHE WAS RIGHT THERE.

And then by the time he comes back, her entire life has changed.

She has loved Ye Hua.

She has been Su Su.

She has gotten married.

She has had a CHILD.

Sir, you missed several chapters. 😭

So yes, I liked Sifu.

But he is also another example of my biggest question about this drama:

Why do all these ancient High Gods know everything except how to communicate with the woman they love?

😭 AND WHY DID LING YU HAVE TO DIE ALREADY?!

Another thing that annoyed me was Ling Yu, the Ninth Senior Brother.

I barely had time to get attached to everybody at Kunlun Xu before this man was DEAD. 😭

And his death is even more irritating because it wasn’t just some unavoidable battlefield accident.

Xuan Nü stole Mo Yuan’s battle formation and handed it to Qing Cang.

So when the war starts, the enemy already knows how to break their formation.

Ling Yu leads the vanguard, gets surrounded and horribly wounded, and Si Yin literally runs into the battlefield trying to save him.

They get him back.

And he STILL dies.

IN EPISODE SIX.

Excuse me???

We have 58 episodes!

You couldn’t let Ninth Senior Brother stay for ten?! 😂😭

And of course Si Yin feels guilty because she’s the one who let Xuan Nü stay at Kunlun Xu in the first place.

So within basically one stretch of episodes we get:

  • Ling Yu dies.
  • Si Yin blames herself.
  • Yao Guang dies.
  • Mo Yuan sacrifices himself.
  • Everybody at Kunlun Xu is traumatized.

This drama wasted absolutely NO time announcing:

“Welcome to the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses. Happiness is temporary.” 😭😂

😂 Heavenly Realm Intelligence Department: CLOSED

The Heavenly Realm drove me crazy in general.

For a civilization filled with ancient immortal beings who have existed for thousands of years, some of these people possessed approximately three shared brain cells.

The politics.

The rules.

The obsession with status.

The way Su Su was treated simply because everyone believed she was mortal.

And don’t even get me started on some of those wigs.

The Heavenly Emperor’s giant rounded helmet hair was fighting for its LIFE. 😭😂

I know this is supposed to be majestic immortal styling.

My eyes disagreed.

💕 Romance & Chemistry

Despite my complaints, the central romance absolutely worked.

Ye Hua loves this woman through different identities, memories, lifetimes, tragedies, and approximately seventeen thousand celestial complications.

When Bai Qian no longer remembers him, he remembers enough for both of them.

And I loved watching Ye Hua pursue her again while Bai Qian is basically wondering why this extremely serious Crown Prince and his tiny child have suddenly decided she belongs to them. 😂

Their relationship has genuine emotional weight because we’ve actually watched everything they lost.

So when they find each other again, it matters.

😭 The Su Su Arc Is Why This Lost Points

This is really the biggest issue for me.

I can handle angst.

I can handle tragedy.

I can handle villains.

But I don’t enjoy watching a female lead get endlessly humiliated and abused while everybody around her either contributes to it or fails to stop it.

Su Su loses her freedom.

She is isolated.

She is manipulated.

She has her eyes taken.

She loses faith in Ye Hua.

And eventually she becomes so hopeless that she jumps from Zhuxian Terrace.

At that point I was exhausted.

I didn’t need another tragedy.

I needed someone to:

GET SU SU OUT OF HEAVEN.

That entire section dragged my rating down significantly.

🌸 The Ending

Happy Ending — but with one final major separation first.

Because apparently this drama looked at its 58 episodes and thought:

You know what these people need? One last emotional injury. 😭

Near the end, Ye Hua sacrifices himself while stopping Qing Cang and is believed dead.

Bai Qian is devastated.

And then they remain separated for three years.

THREE.

YEARS.

Thankfully this isn’t one of those xianxias that ends with someone vaguely appearing as a butterfly while the female lead smiles at a tree. 🙄

Ye Hua actually wakes up.

He goes back to the peach blossom forest.

Bai Qian finds him.

And the two of them reunite for real. ❤️

So yes:

  • ✅ Ye Hua is alive
  • ✅ Bai Qian is alive
  • ✅ They reunite
  • ✅ They love each other
  • ✅ Main couple ends together

Actual happy ending.

I just wish the drama hadn’t squeezed one final three-year separation into the process. 😂

⚠️ Content & Victimization Warnings

This drama gets MUCH darker during the Su Su storyline than the pretty peach blossoms suggest.

  • Severe bullying and emotional abuse
  • Coercion and manipulation
  • Isolation/confinement
  • Violence against the female lead
  • Forced removal of Su Su’s eyes / blindness
  • Pregnancy and childbirth under extreme emotional stress
  • Suicidal behavior / jump from Zhuxian Terrace
  • Grief and traumatic loss
  • War and fantasy combat
  • Deaths and presumed deaths
  • Mother/child separation
  • Extended romantic separation
  • Jealous romantic obsession and scheming

The Su Su Heavenly Palace arc is easily the hardest part of the drama for me.

⭐ Final Thoughts

I genuinely understand why Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms became such a famous drama.

It’s gorgeous.

It’s romantic.

The world feels huge.

The central love story has real weight.

A-Li is precious.

Bai Qian is memorable.

Ye Hua is devoted enough that I can forgive him for SOME things. 😂

And I loved the idea of a woman meeting a man and child without realizing:

Oh. Apparently this is literally my husband and son.

That’s my kind of ridiculous romantic chaos. 😂❤️

But I cannot overlook how miserable the Su Su Heavenly Palace storyline made me.

There was simply too much prolonged suffering, and watching everyone fail to protect her became incredibly frustrating.

Without that stretch, I probably would have rated this significantly higher.

Instead:

⭐ 3.5/5

A beautiful epic romance featuring gods, reincarnation, forgotten marriages, an adorable child, peach blossoms…

…and an entire Heavenly Palace that desperately needed an HR department. 😭😂
