About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
My Review
Love Is Sweet gave me a couple I actually wanted to watch… and then kept sending me back to the investment bank. 😂
Why did I need this much investment banking? 😂
My rating is 3/5. I finished all 36 episodes, and Jiang Jun and Yuan Shuai were much more interesting to me than the corporate material around them.
The Story
Jiang Jun joins an investment bank and reunites with Yuan Shuai, the boy she knew growing up. Except now he is her superior, and all those buried feelings come with workplace competition, jealousy, bickering and corporate investigations.
The childhood connection and adult reunion gave the romance something to work with. The business deals and executives discussing companies? Those were doing considerably less for me. 🙄
❤️ Jiang Jun & Yuan Shuai
Their romance was the strongest part of the drama for me. I liked the buried feelings, attraction, jealousy, flirting and bickering, and I appreciated the kisses and physical affection.
The drama actually lets them become a real couple before the finale. THANK YOU. 👏
Around Episode 20, they reach their major mutual confession and romantic turning point. From Episode 21 onward, we get an established dating relationship, secret office dating, more kisses, affection and domestic scenes.
At least I didn't sit through 35 episodes for one hug and a handhold. 😂
They get to have an actual relationship, live together, reconcile after the breakup, and reach a proposal, marriage and pregnancy. I appreciated having something concrete to show for all those episodes.
😴 Please Stop Discussing Another Company
The office/business storyline was boring to me. Investment banking, corporate politics, business deals, investigations, executives talking about companies… it was too much.
Every time we got back to the romance, I was interested again. Then somebody started discussing another company. 🙄
That material made the drama feel longer than it needed to be. The main romance held my attention much more than the corporate story.
😂 The Second Couple Was Unnecessary Padding
Xu Li and Li Xiaochuan do not have a tiny background romance. Their story becomes a substantial second-couple subplot: her interest in him, his emotional cluelessness, the compatibility/algorithm material, prolonged pursuit and their eventual relationship.
After the two-year time jump, they are married. By the finale, Xu Li is pregnant.
Why does the side couple have a fertility storyline now?! We could have wrapped this drama up already! 😭
I am not saying they were horrible. I am saying their story received more time and development than I needed, and it helped prolong a drama that already felt padded.
Cute enough. But did I need this much of it? No. 😂
💔 One Actual Breakup — Even If He Staged It
Around Episode 27, Yuan Shuai deliberately pushes Jiang Jun away while secretly investigating the corruption connected with her father's company. He allows her to understand that their relationship has ended.
Jiang Jun genuinely believes they have broken up. That makes this one actual relationship rupture/breakup, even though he stages it for protective and investigative reasons. It is not merely an argument.
The separation and fallout last roughly Episodes 27–30. The truth comes out, she is angry and does not instantly forgive him, and they reconcile around Episode 30.
There is no second later breakup. The late two-year time jump is not a hidden two-year romantic separation: they remain together and are living together afterward.
🤦♀️ Du Lei, Please Find Another Hobby
Du Lei starts as Yuan Shuai's professional rival and develops feelings for Jiang Jun. Later, his behavior becomes more aggressive and controlling as she continues rejecting him and opposing some of his professional actions.
Sir. She has a boyfriend. A live-in boyfriend. Please find another hobby. 🤦♀️
There is also the adoptive-sibling subplot: Linda/Du Lin, Du Lei's adoptive sister, develops romantic feelings for him.
He explicitly rejects a romantic relationship with her and tells her he sees her as his sister. They do not become a couple.
Still weird. 👀
💍 Happy Ending: Married and Together
This ending is clear. In Episode 36, Yuan Shuai proposes and Jiang Jun accepts. They go to register their marriage, and Jiang Jun discovers she is pregnant.
Proposal + marriage registration + pregnancy. Married and Together. Happy Ending. ❤️
The couple's romantic payoff was much more interesting to me than another business conversation.
Final Thoughts
I liked Jiang Jun and Yuan Shuai's romance, and I appreciated getting kisses, affection, an established relationship, domestic scenes and a clear happy ending.
But the office/business storyline was boring, and the substantial second-couple story felt unnecessary. Both made the drama feel longer than it needed to be.
I absolutely CAN complain about how much investment banking I had to survive to get there. 😭
⭐ Final Rating: 3/5 · Finished
🔎 Reality Check: An “Allergy to Tears”?
The drama gives Jiang Jun a rare condition in which crying and tears can trigger an allergic-type reaction. A real comparison is aquagenic urticaria: water touching the skin can trigger small hives, itching, burning and redness, including from sweat or tears. It is the skin contact with water, not sadness itself. People are not literally allergic to emotions.
Systemic symptoms such as wheezing or shortness of breath are reported rarely. Jiang Jun becoming extremely ill or collapsing makes the condition more dramatic for the story. Based on a real rare medical phenomenon, but dramatized/exaggerated.
DermNet: Aquagenic urticaria, a dermatologist-edited reference, supports the water-contact triggers, usual skin symptoms and rare systemic symptoms. The comparison does not diagnose a fictional character.
