🌸 My Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ — 3.5/5 Status: Finished Year: 2025 Episodes: 40 Leads: Deng Wei as Su Yishui · Xiang Hanzhi as Mu Qingge/Xue Ranran Ending: ✅ Happy Ending

🌸 My Review

Here we go again.

Another shifu/disciple relationship. 😭😂

Except this drama apparently decided the normal master/disciple setup was not complicated enough.

Mu Qingge was Su Yishui’s master first. Then she dies and reincarnates as Xue Ranran. Years later, Su Yishui becomes the sect leader and takes his own former master — who no longer remembers everything — as his disciple.

So basically they take turns being each other’s shifu. 😭

At least they got creative with it.

The romance takes its sweet time. Ranran realizes her feelings much earlier and confesses around Episode 13, but Yishui rejects her while practicing the Unfeeling Mantra and doing the usual xianxia male-lead routine where apparently protecting the woman you love means making both of you miserable. 🙄

Meanwhile, he is already obviously gone for her.

There is jealousy, protectiveness, secret helping, forehead kisses, drunken kissing, denial, suffering…

You know. Cultivation romance. 😂

The romance finally starts paying off properly around Episodes 27–28. Episode 27 gives them a clearly mutual romantic kiss and clears up their feelings, and by Episode 28 they are officially together.

And then naturally the drama says:

Oh, they’re happy? Fix that immediately.

Yishui gets hit with magical amnesia around Episode 30 and loses roughly 23 years of memories — including his relationship with Ranran.

😭

He goes cold and suspicious again, and she basically has to make this man fall in love with her AGAIN.

I am NOT counting this as an actual breakup because neither one voluntarily ends the established relationship. This is forced memory-loss separation/conflict.

And hilariously, even without the memories, he starts falling for her again anyway.

Apparently his memory got factory-reset but his attraction did not. 😂

The later episodes pile on the usual xianxia suffering — possession, sacrifices, identity mess, demons, magical artifacts, world-ending schemes — but thankfully this drama does not punish us with a miserable finale.

💍 THE ENDING — HAPPY

This is an actual Happy Ending.

After the final conflict, Yishui and Ranran rebuild their lives and marry.

They leave Mount Wester and travel together.

The epilogue jumps forward 13 years.

They are still happily married and have three children.

Nobody turns into a flower.

Nobody spends 5,000 years waiting for someone to reincarnate.

Nobody is floating around as a soul.

THANK YOU. 😂

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check

Finished all 40 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.

💕 Romance
Good, but it takes a while to become official.
🔥 Chemistry
Good. The jealousy and shifu/disciple tension help.
💋 Kissing
Moderate to good. Multiple kisses once the romance gets moving.
🤗 Skinship
Moderate. Hugging, closeness, and protective moments.
🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
Mild but clearly implied. They marry and later have three children.
🚩 ML Red Flag
Moderate. Protective and devoted, but the drunk/mistaken-identity kiss and emotional distancing count against him.
👑 Female Lead Competence
Strong. Ranran investigates, cultivates, fights, rescues people, and repeatedly helps save Yishui.
⏱️ Romance Timing
Slow-to-mid. Feelings start earlier, but the official relationship is around Episode 28.
❤️‍🔥 Relationship Payoff
Strong. Marriage, traveling together, domestic epilogue, and children.
💔 Breakup
No actual voluntary breakup.
⏳ Separation / Conflict
Yes. Amnesia, emotional distance, possession, and dangerous forced separations.
💍 Final Relationship Status
Married, alive, together, three children.
📖 Plot
Dense xianxia: reincarnation, sect politics, memory loss, demons, possession, magical artifacts, fate, and approximately 900 names to remember. 😂
🐾 Animal Harm
No verified dog/cat harm. Fantasy creatures are injured during the story.
About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

⭐ Why I Gave It 3.5/5

This has plenty of things I normally like: devoted male lead, capable female lead, jealousy, kissing, mutual protection, an explicit relationship, marriage, children, and a genuinely happy ending.

But it also gives me several things that keep it out of my 4+ territory:

  • Yet another shifu/disciple romance 😭
  • Fairly late official relationship
  • Noble-idiot emotional distancing
  • Amnesia factory reset
  • Possession
  • Lots of classic xianxia suffering

So 3.5/5 feels right.

Cute enough. Romantic enough. Happy enough.

But apparently immortal sects need a new rule:

PLEASE STOP DATING YOUR SHIFU. 😭😂
