About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
My Review
I loved this one.
Do I remember most of what happened?
Absolutely not. 😂😭
And the ridiculous part is that I watched it RECENTLY.
Apparently my brain watched Money Is Coming, gave it a solid 4/5, filed away “cute couple, good drama, Lin Zehui,” and then deleted half the evidence. 🤦♀️
The basic setup is exactly the kind of thing I usually enjoy.
Ning Chuxi is a modern college student who gets thrown into a novel as Princess Yuexi, a vicious supporting character who is basically scheduled to die almost immediately.
Instead of obediently following the original plot toward her own funeral, she decides:
Absolutely not. 😂
She starts trying to change her fate and eventually begins changing the fates of other people around her too, including Xiao Xingheng.
And naturally, that is where the romance comes in. ❤️
Ning Chuxi & Xiao Xingheng ❤️
This was the main reason I liked the drama.
Xiao Xingheng is played by Lin Zehui, who I already liked from Secrets of the Shadow Sect, and once again he works very well as a romantic male lead.
Their relationship is exactly the kind I want more dramas to give me.
They become allies.
They trust each other.
They gradually become an actual team.
And HALLELUJAH:
**THEY DO NOT BREAK UP.** 🎉👏
No ridiculous:
“I love you, therefore I must abandon you for your own good.”
No believing every random rumor.
No spending five episodes refusing to explain something that could be solved with one conversation.
They actually communicate.
Imagine that. 😂
When problems happen, they generally talk, trust each other, and deal with things together instead of immediately turning against one another.
That made their relationship feel surprisingly healthy compared with the amount of nonsense C-dramas usually put me through. 😭
Ning Chuxi Has a Backbone 👑
Another huge reason this drama worked for me:
**THE GIRL HAS A BACKBONE.**
THANK YOU.
Ning Chuxi is not one of those female leads who gets bullied, cries in a corner, and waits for the male lead to solve her entire life.
She argues back.
She makes decisions.
She thinks for herself.
She actively interferes with the original story.
She tries to change her fate.
And once she cares about the people around her, she starts trying to change their fates too.
She is capable without the drama having to make Xiao Xingheng stupid just to make her look intelligent.
Even better, his protectiveness does not erase her independence.
They feel like partners.
That combination—
capable FL + devoted ML + healthy communication + no breakup
—is basically catnip for me. 😂❤️
Xiao Xingheng ❤️
Xiao Xingheng is protective, loyal, and devoted to Chuxi.
He does not spend half the drama treating her like garbage before suddenly deciding he loves her.
He respects her.
He listens to her.
And when she is in danger, his concern feels protective instead of controlling.
One thing I especially liked is that Chuxi does not have to become helpless for him to have something to do.
He can protect her while still recognizing that she is perfectly capable of thinking and acting for herself.
That is how you do it. 👏
Romance & Chemistry 🔥❤️
The romance is one of the strongest parts of the drama for me.
There is:
- genuine chemistry
- actual affection
- real kissing
- physical closeness
- teamwork
- devotion
- trust
- romantic progression
And most importantly:
**relationship stability**
Once these two fall for each other, the writers do not suddenly decide happiness is illegal and manufacture some stupid breakup just to create angst. 🙄
Most of their problems are external:
- political
- family-related
- connected to the original story
- connected to people scheming around them
The problems are not primarily caused by the couple refusing to communicate.
I appreciate that SO MUCH.
No Breakup 🎉
This deserves its own section because C-dramas have traumatized me enough that apparently I now celebrate basic relationship stability. 😂
**NING CHUXI AND XIAO XINGHENG DO NOT HAVE AN ACTUAL BREAKUP.**
👏👏👏👏👏
They face danger.
People scheme.
Political problems happen.
Things go wrong.
But they do not decide:
“Well, clearly the solution is to destroy our perfectly functional relationship.”
They remain emotionally committed.
This is one of the biggest reasons I liked them.
Healthy Communication 👍❤️
Their communication is another huge strength.
They are not perfect, but they generally behave like two people who actually trust one another.
They:
- talk
- listen
- explain things
- work together
- support each other
- trust each other
There is no major relationship collapse caused by one stupid misunderstanding.
No constant hot-cold nonsense.
No repeated emotional withdrawal.
No “I heard one rumor, therefore everything you ever told me must have been a lie.” 🙄
Apparently simply communicating with your partner now earns bonus points because C-dramas have lowered my expectations THAT much. 😂
The Plot
The transmigration setup continues to matter after the beginning.
Chuxi knows what is supposed to happen in the original story and tries to prevent those terrible outcomes from happening.
She goes from mainly trying to save herself to caring about the people around her and trying to change their fates too.
The story gets heavier later with:
- palace politics
- conspiracy
- illness
- danger
- power struggles
- attempts to change events that were originally supposed to happen
Do I remember every political detail?
Absolutely not. 😂
The imperial court could summon me as a witness tomorrow and I would be like:
“Your Majesty, respectfully, I have no idea.” 😭
But I remember enjoying the overall story.
And more importantly, I remember enjoying the couple at the center of it.
The Ending ❤️
**Happy Ending**
The major political danger is eventually resolved.
Most importantly:
**Ning Chuxi and Xiao Xingheng remain together.**
Their relationship survives the plot.
There is no tragic permanent separation.
No reincarnation loophole.
No weird flower petal ending.
No “maybe he returned, maybe she imagined it.”
No last-minute open-ending nonsense.
The main couple gets their romantic payoff.
❤️ Together — Happy Ending
Final Thoughts
I apparently loved Money Is Coming enough to give it 4/5 and then immediately forgot a large chunk of the political plot. 😂
But honestly, what stuck with me is probably the most important part anyway:
the couple.
I liked Ning Chuxi.
I liked Xiao Xingheng.
I liked them together.
I liked that she had a backbone.
I liked that he was devoted to her without treating her like an incompetent child.
I liked that they actually communicated.
And I REALLY liked that the writers did not destroy a perfectly good relationship with some ridiculous breakup because apparently happiness normally violates C-drama broadcasting regulations. 😂
They work together.
They trust each other.
They have chemistry.
They kiss.
They remain committed when the external plot gets messy.
And they get a happy ending.
That is a very easy way to make me happy. ❤️
Would I go back and rewatch the episodes I skipped just so I could explain every imperial conspiracy?
Absolutely not. 😂
But did I enjoy what I watched?
Very much.
⭐ 4/5
