A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
My Review
My reaction: Ryan Cheng, please report for praise ❤️ I finished My Journey to You, but the story was draggy. There is a difference between building suspense and making me feel every minute of the journey. This one tested my patience. 😭
Ryan Cheng was amazing, though. Whatever complaints I have about the pacing, his performance deserves its flowers. Sir, your work has been recognized. Please collect your praise before I return to complaining about the story. 😂❤️
For me, this lands at 3/5: an amazing Ryan Cheng performance, a story that dragged, and an ending that leaves the romance unresolved.
The setup Yun Weishan is a Wufeng assassin who enters the Gong residence disguised as a prospective bride. Her mission becomes complicated when she develops feelings for Gong Ziyu, while another infiltrator, Shangguan Qian, becomes involved with Gong Shangjue. Love and divided loyalties make an already dangerous situation worse.
Romance and chemistry: affection versus suspicion Gong Ziyu and Yun Weishan’s romance includes affection, kissing, and increasingly explicit devotion. He continues choosing her after discovering her Wufeng identity. Their feelings develop before the finale, although her direct admission comes relatively late, in Episode 20.
Gong Shangjue and Shangguan Qian have a more suspicious, sensual dynamic, including their Episode 17 bath scene. Their intimacy does not turn into a secure relationship with a confirmed happy ending. Chemistry and romantic closure are two separate things here. 👀
Does My Journey to You have a happy ending? No confirmed happy ending. The correct classification is Ambiguous/Open Ending.
In Episode 24, Yun Weishan and Gong Ziyu reaffirm their love. She visits her birth family, promising to return in a few days. At the Yun residence, she encounters her identical twin and Wufeng’s leader. She misses the agreed return time, leaving Gong Ziyu waiting.
The final gate-opening sound and Gong Ziyu’s reaction do not reveal who or what he sees. Her death is not confirmed, but neither is her survival and reunion with him. Calling this a definite happy ending would require filling in something the drama never shows.
Ryan Cheng’s couple also remains unresolved. Shangguan Qian tells Gong Shangjue she is carrying his child, and he lets her leave. They end apart without an onscreen reunion or shared family epilogue. Her pregnancy statement is not proof that they eventually live happily together.

About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
