He Qing Hai Yan (河清海晏) Wraps Filming With Arthur Chen and Zhang Zifeng

The upcoming Tencent Video romance and crime drama has completed principal filming, with new promotional material highlighting its leading pair.

He Qing Hai Yan (河清海晏) has officially announced the end of filming on October 25, 2026 (China time). The upcoming Chinese drama stars Arthur Chen Feiyu (陈飞宇) and Zhang Zifeng (张子枫) as two people whose lives become intertwined against a backdrop of family trauma, danger, and an investigation into narcotics-related crime.

The production's wrap announcement and new material put the drama back in the spotlight following its August filming launch. The official Weibo television account amplified the October 25 announcement and named both leads. Zhang Zifeng's own filming completion had been reported earlier, on October 20; the October 25 news concerns the broader production announcement.

What Is He Qing Hai Yan About?

The story centers on Zhou Haiyan (周海晏), played by Arthur Chen, and Tang Heqing (唐河清), played by Zhang Zifeng.

Zhou Haiyan is a narcotics officer, while Tang Heqing becomes a forensic specialist. Their connection traces back to a difficult childhood in a coastal community. As they grow older, the two navigate personal losses and dangerous criminal investigations, with their relationship shaped by the question of how to protect someone without losing oneself.

The premise combines a long-running emotional bond with the darker stakes of a crime story. It also appears to emphasize mutual support rather than treating the romance as an entirely separate subplot.

Cast and Creative Team

The production's August 21 official filming announcement named Arthur Chen and Zhang Zifeng as leads and credited Qin Zhen (秦榛) as director and Zhang Ying (张盈) as screenwriter. Announced supporting performers include Bai Bingke, Wu Junting, and Lai Weiming. Local reporting on the filming in Quanzhou additionally identified Ren Zhong, Hu Jing, Tong Lei, and Zhao Da among the ensemble.

Filming began in Quanzhou, Fujian, on August 21, 2026, and the October 25 announcement marks a substantial production milestone.

Why the Romance Is Worth Watching

The central pairing is particularly interesting because its relationship is rooted in shared history. A romance that grows through mutual protection and trust can offer more emotional payoff than one built entirely around misunderstandings.

Of course, the synopsis and wrap promotions cannot tell us how the final episodes handle that relationship. The ending, any breakups or prolonged separations, the timing of the official relationship, and the amount of on-screen romantic affection remain unverified. It would be premature to label this a confirmed happy-ending romance.

When and Where Will He Qing Hai Yan Air?

Tencent Video is the announced Chinese platform, but an official premiere date has not been confirmed as of October 25, 2026. Claims about a specific 2027 release window are projections, not a finalized schedule.

Likewise, a U.S. streaming release, English-subtitle availability and international licensing arrangements have not been independently confirmed. Those details will need a platform announcement closer to the premiere.

For now, the headline is straightforward: filming is complete, the leading pair has been introduced through official production material, and the drama is moving into its next production phase.
