7 Upcoming Chinese Dramas on My Radar: Revenge Heroines, Historical Romance, and Fantasy (2026–2027)
云初令 · 窈窈有期 · 一枕春华 · 朝玉阶 · 来战 · 聊斋 · 一点浩然气

I keep thinking I've found all the upcoming Chinese dramas worth watching. Then another platform announces a new lineup, and suddenly my watchlist has grown again.
The latest iQIYI and WeTV announcements have given us plenty to talk about: a woman returning from death to outsmart the people who betrayed her, another heroine determined to protect her family, a businesswoman rescuing her very own male Cinderella, and more than a few dangerous secrets.
Here are seven upcoming productions I'm keeping an eye on. These are previews, not reviews. Release dates, U.S. streaming access, romance milestones, and television endings are not confirmed unless stated otherwise. The release information below reflects official listings available on October 21, 2026.
1. Yun Chu Ling (云初令) — Esther Yu and Zhang Yunlong

Platform: iQIYI
Official planning window: First quarter of 2027; no exact premiere date
Esther Yu (虞书欣) plays Yun Chu, a woman who devoted herself to her husband's family in a previous life only to be betrayed and killed. Given another chance, she intends to stop sacrificing herself for people who never deserved her loyalty.
Zhang Yunlong (张云龙) is billed as a special appearance and plays Chu Yi. The official synopsis highlights Yun Chu's determination to break out of a destructive cycle and seek justice against the people who ruined her life.
Now that sounds like a heroine I want to meet. I'm always interested in a female lead who learns from her mistakes, fights back, and refuses to be manipulated a second time.
Still, I won't assume that the drama is a full-fledged romance or promise a happy ending just because its revenge premise appeals to me. We'll need the actual episodes to see how the relationship develops.
2. Yao Yao You Qi (窈窈有期) — He Yu and Bao Shang'en

Platform: iQIYI
Official planning window: First quarter of 2027; no exact premiere date
He Yu (何与) and Bao Shang'en (包上恩) headline this historical rebirth story, adapted from the novel Di Mou (嫡谋).
Bao Shang'en plays Ren Yaoqi, whose first life ends after devastating family losses and an abusive situation. Xiao Jingxi, portrayed by He Yu, helps her confront her enemies, but she still dies. When she awakens five years earlier, she has the chance to protect her family and rewrite the future.
The official iQIYI synopsis describes Ren Yaoqi building a more equal relationship with Xiao Jingxi, and ultimately becoming a couple. That's encouraging as a description of the intended story, but it is not yet proof that the televised finale will deliver every romantic milestone viewers want.
The darker events in her first life deserve a content warning: family deaths, coercion and abuse involving a eunuch, and a fatal confrontation. What draws me to the premise is what she does with her second chance: plan carefully, defend her family, and refuse to be powerless again.
3. Yi Zhen Chun Hua (一枕春华) — Zhou Keyu and Xu Ruohan

Platform: iQIYI
Official slate: Listed for 2026; no exact premiere date. The international reservation page retains a 2025 catalog label, which is not a confirmed premiere date.
This one sounds like a refreshing reversal of the usual historical-romance setup.
Xu Ruohan (徐若晗) and Zhou Keyu (周柯宇) lead a story about Feng Jiaojiao, a formidable businesswoman, who saves Sheng Linzhi, a young man down on his luck. iQIYI's official description essentially positions him as a male Cinderella.
Their relationship develops alongside business competition and martial-arts adventure, with class barriers standing between their very different worlds.
I love the idea of a heroine who knows how to run things and a male lead who doesn't need to be the most powerful man in the room from the first episode. The platform describes this as a romantic story, but we'll still need to see whether it delivers consistent chemistry, affection, and a satisfying ending.
4. Chao Yu Jie (朝玉阶) — Bai Lu and Chen Zheyuan

Platform: iQIYI
Official status: Included in iQIYI’s 2026–2027 slate; broadcast timing to be determined
Bai Lu (白鹿) and Chen Zheyuan (陈哲远) are officially attached to this upcoming costume drama.
The pairing alone makes it a significant entertainment-news story, and iQIYI has included the project in its upcoming programming announcements. But a project announcement isn't the same thing as a completed series or a locked premiere date.
iQIYI has also published a synopsis: eighteen-year-old Lu Zhaoxi unexpectedly enters a world twelve years into the future, inhabits another person's body, and investigates the destruction of her family amid court and palace conspiracies. The story also involves regent Tu Yin and a consort with a strangely similar fate.
I'll be following the production's official updates for filming milestones and—eventually—a proper release calendar. The slate currently marks the broadcast timing as to be determined.
5. Lai Zhan (来战) — Ju Jingyi and Zhang Yunlong

Platform: iQIYI official 2026 programming slate
Official slate: 2026; no exact premiere date
Ju Jingyi (鞠婧祎) stars as A-Dai, an extraordinarily driven cultivation student, opposite Zhang Yunlong (张云龙) as Xiao Yihan, a laid-back master who would rather avoid unnecessary effort.
The official production description promises conflicts, comedy, supernatural adventures, and a relationship that grows increasingly complicated as master and disciple challenge one another.
The premise has energy, and the contrast between an overachieving heroine and an unmotivated male lead could be funny. Important warning, though: the central master–disciple relationship may not suit viewers who avoid that romantic dynamic. It also remains too early to verify the adaptation's ending or how much time the story gives to romance.
6. Liao Zhai (聊斋) — Zhang Miaoyi and Chang Huasen

Platform: Tencent Video / WeTV
Official listing: 2026; exact premiere date unconfirmed
WeTV has an official listing and promotional trailer for this supernatural historical series, starring Zhang Miaoyi (张淼怡) and Chang Huasen (常华森), with other announced performers including Lin Yun and Ye Zuxin.
Inspired by the world of traditional strange tales, Liao Zhai explores encounters among humans, spirits, demons, and other extraordinary beings. WeTV categorizes the production under historical fantasy and romance.
I'm curious about the supernatural mysteries and visuals, but this doesn't look like a straightforward one-couple romance. Multiple stories and otherworldly characters may mean very different relationship outcomes. Until the episodes arrive, I wouldn't put a happy-ending label on it.
7. Yi Dian Hao Ran Qi (一点浩然气) — Ao Ruipeng

Platform: Listed in iQIYI's official programming slate
Official slate: 2026; exact premiere date unconfirmed
Ao Ruipeng (敖瑞鹏) headlines a historical action-mystery about Chen Yi, a young man falsely accused and pursued as he investigates a dangerous conspiracy with his companions.
The official synopsis emphasizes pursuit, investigation, friendship, secret techniques, and a threat to the state. That makes it a different kind of recommendation: more action and suspense than confirmed romance.
I'm interested in seeing Ao Ruipeng in another major costume role, but I'm not going to sell this as a love story when the official materials haven't established one.
Which Upcoming C-Dramas Look Most Promising?
If we're talking strictly about storylines that catch my attention, Yun Chu Ling, Yao Yao You Qi, and Yi Zhen Chun Hua are the three I'll be watching most closely.
All three promise heroines with more agency than the usual helpless damsel: one fights back against a devastating betrayal, another uses her second life to protect her family, and the third takes the lead in a historical business-and-romance story.
But an exciting synopsis isn't a guarantee of good execution. Chemistry, actual relationship development, breakups, and final outcomes still matter. So does having legitimate U.S. playback with usable English subtitles.
For now, these seven dramas are upcoming projects, not finished or rated shows. I'll update their release information as the official platforms announce firm dates—and save the happy-ending verdicts for when the television adaptations actually earn them.
