Secret Baby + Reunited Exes? I Was Interested. π
The Love You Give Me gets a 3/5 from me. I loved the plot. Second-chance romance, a secret child, a capable working female lead, and an ex-boyfriend discovering he has a son? This is normally exactly the sort of setup that gets my attention. π
Min Hui is raising Quanquan while working in tech/R&D. Then Xin Qi comes back into her life, and suddenly the past has a very adorable little face attached to it. Quanquan is one of the strongest parts of the family setup. He is adorable. ππ
Watch status: Dropped. I stopped sometime after Xin Qi moved into Min Huiβs home. I do not have my exact stopping episode recorded. Anything about the later reconciliation, kissing, wedding or ending below comes from research after dropping, not from me finishing the drama.
And Then I Stopped Pressing βNext Episode.β ππ
The premise worked for me. I liked the secret-child and second-chance setup, and the domestic tension between two exes who clearly have unfinished business.
But after Xin Qi moved in, some parts started dragging for me. I watched beyond that point for a while, then eventually stopped wanting to continue. I was not rage-watching it or sitting there hating everything. I just got bored enough that βNext Episodeβ stopped calling my name. π
That is why this stays at 3/5. There was enough going for it that I understand why people like it. It simply did not hold my attention long enough to finish all 28 episodes.
Min Hui, Xin Qi, and the Tiny Scene-Stealer π
I like that Min Hui is a capable professional and a single mother with a career. She has responsibilities and a life of her own; she is not just standing around waiting to be rescued. That does not make her flawless, but it is a point in her favor.
Xin Qi is emotionally invested, and once he learns the truth, he is devoted to Quanquan. He can also be jealous, pushy and distrustful. Sir, please calm down. π
Researching the later story, he makes a serious effort to repair the relationship. I can acknowledge that without pretending his frustrating behavior never happened.
Romance & Chemistry β The Payoff I Did Not Reach π
There is noticeable exes-who-are-not-over-each-other energy, plus the family and domestic setup. Researching the later episodes, the drama eventually gives the couple much stronger romantic payoff, including several kisses after reconciliation. I just got bored before I reached most of it. π
Official reconciliation is around Episode 23. That is researched after dropping. I am not going to claim I personally loved every later kiss or that the ending made the whole drama worth it for me.
Ending Status: Happy Ending π
Researched after dropping β I did not personally watch the finale. The main couple reconciles, stays together and marries. Their ending confirms a family life together.
Before that payoff, Xin Qi spends approximately six months away for heart treatment. This is a medical/geographic separation, not a romantic breakup. The drama begins after a roughly five-year breakup; their present-day trust conflicts should not all be counted as additional formal breakups. No new romantic breakup after the official reconciliation was verified.
So yes, the drama eventually delivers the romantic payoff. I just got bored before it delivered it. π
Final Thoughts
I genuinely liked the plot. I just didnβt like the pacing enough to finish it. π
Secret baby + capable FL + reunited exes + cute kid should have had me trapped, but after Xin Qi moved in, I started losing interest and eventually dropped it.
Good concept. Cute family. Happy ending. Too much dragging for me. π
