About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

My Review

This Plot Was Basically Made to Tempt Me 😂

A fallen heiress wants revenge for her murdered mother.

She changes her face, steals another identity, infiltrates the enemy family, and enters a fake engagement with the son of the man she believes killed her mother.

Excuse me???

Revenge heroine.

Hidden identity.

Fake engagement.

Rich heir.

Murder mystery.

Li Jiulin.

Obviously I watched it. 😂

Cheng Youran assumes the identity of her friend Su Xinyue and gets close to Xu Shian while secretly gathering evidence against his family.

And then comes my favorite part:

Xu Shian figures out that something is wrong with her identity.

Does he expose her?

NO.

Does he immediately become offended because she lied to him and spend six episodes screaming about betrayal?

ALSO NO. 😂

The man basically realizes:

Oh. My fiancée is secretly running a revenge operation.

And his response is apparently:

**How may I assist?**

THAT is the kind of male lead decision-making I support. 😂❤️

He realizes who she is, does not expose her, protects her, and secretly helps with her revenge.

Thank you, sir.

🌹 Cheng Youran and the Revenge Plot

I liked that Cheng Youran actually had a purpose.

She was not wandering around waiting for the male lead to solve her problems.

Her mother was murdered, her family property was taken, and she came back with an actual plan.

Was the plan completely sane?

Debatable. 😂

But she was actively investigating, hiding her identity, collecting evidence, and trying to figure out who destroyed her family.

That automatically makes this more interesting to me than a revenge drama where the supposedly vengeful heroine spends twenty episodes getting bullied while everybody else does the revenge for her.

And the story eventually complicates her original assumptions because the person she initially thought was responsible for her mother's death was not actually the true mastermind.

❤️ Xu Shian

Xu Shian was probably my favorite part of this setup.

Because once he realizes that Cheng Youran is not who she claims to be, he does something I wish more drama male leads would do:

**He uses his brain.**

😂👏

He watches her.

He figures things out.

And instead of deciding that her deception automatically means she is evil, he understands WHY she is doing it.

Then he protects her and helps her.

YES.

Thank you.

I am so tired of:

“You lied about your name therefore everything between us was FAKE 😭.”

Sir, her mother was murdered.

Maybe give her five minutes. 😂

Xu Shian's reaction made the hidden-identity storyline much more enjoyable for me because it did not turn into endless romantic punishment.

And Li Jiulin fits this type of role really well — the man who knows far more than he is saying and quietly starts rearranging things behind the scenes to protect the woman he loves.

I approve. ❤️

😂 About That Weird Family Situation...

There is enough fake-identity and family confusion in this setup to make you briefly wonder:

WAIT. ARE THEY RELATED?!

😂

They are not actually siblings.

So this does NOT turn into one of those pseudo-sibling romances that makes me stare at the screen wondering who approved the family tree.

Thank you, drama gods.

💕 Romance & Chemistry

The romance worked best for me when Xu Shian and Cheng Youran were essentially becoming secret allies.

That is MUCH more interesting than him simply being the clueless rich fiancé while she manipulates him.

He realizes she has an agenda.

She realizes he may not be her enemy.

And gradually the fake relationship starts becoming something real.

That is exactly the part of this trope I like.

I just don't think the drama as a whole became something I was obsessed with.

And honestly, 3/5 describes it pretty perfectly.

I liked it.

I finished it.

There were things here that were absolutely designed for me.

But it never crossed over into:

**EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND WATCH THIS.**

😂

It was a solid short revenge romance, not one of my new favorites.

❤️ The Ending

Happy Ending. Xu Shian and Cheng Youran end up together. Their relationship does not end in tragedy or permanent separation. I am not claiming a marriage, child, time jump, or exact episode milestone that I did not verify.

⭐ Final Thoughts — 3/5

Wild Rose had a premise that should have been extremely dangerous for me because it contains basically everything I click on:

revenge + hidden identity + fake engagement + protective ML + capable FL.

😂

And the part I liked most absolutely worked.

Xu Shian realizing Cheng Youran is an impostor and then deciding to help her rather than expose her was the correct choice.

Protective accomplice ML?

YES.

More of that, please. ❤️

I also liked that Cheng Youran had her own revenge mission and was not just attached to the male lead's storyline.

But overall?

This was a good, watchable short drama, not something that completely grabbed me.

I liked the bones of it more than I loved the entire thing.

So:

⭐ 3/5

Revenge heroine: approved. 🌹

Li Jiulin secretly helping his fake fiancée destroy her enemies: VERY approved. 😂❤️

Overall obsession level: not quite there.

A solid middle-of-the-road revenge romance with one male-lead decision I wish approximately 900 other C-drama men would learn from.

🔎 Reality Check: Can You Really Change Your Face and Become Someone Else?

Short answer: Not the way this drama uses it. 😂

Reconstructive or cosmetic surgery can change someone’s appearance, but it cannot simply give them another specific person’s face and identity. A real face transplant is a complex reconstructive procedure for severe facial injury or deformity, followed by hospitalization, rehabilitation, lifelong anti-rejection medicine and medical monitoring. The recipient will not automatically look exactly like the donor because underlying bone structure matters.

Drama: New face. New identity. Revenge time. 🌹🔪

Reality: Major surgery, swelling, rehabilitation and lifelong medical care. 😭

Verdict: Highly fictionalized, but obviously necessary for the revenge premise. 😂

Medical sources: Mayo Clinic — Face transplant · Cleveland Clinic — Face Transplantation
