A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
I liked Are You the One, but LORD did this drama know how to drag something out. 😭
The setup was actually really fun. Liu Miantang wakes up with amnesia and believes Cui Xingzhou is her husband, while he goes along with it because he has his own reasons for keeping her close.
Totally normal and healthy way to start a relationship. 😂
And somehow, while they are living this fake married life, they actually start falling for each other.
That part worked for me. ❤️
The problem?
THEY WERE BROKEN UP FOR LIKE 2,000,000 EPISODES.
Okay, not literally.
But it FELT like it. 😭😭😭
Once Miantang learns the truth about Cui Xingzhou and realizes how much of their life together was built on deception, everything blows up.
And honestly, I understood why she was angry.
This man let an amnesiac woman believe he was her husband.
SIR. 😂
Then we spend episode after episode watching him chase her, apologize, try to prove himself, get rejected, chase her again, and get rejected some more.
I GET IT.
HE'S SORRY.
CAN WE GET BACK TO THE ROMANCE NOW?! 😭
That whole stretch dragged the drama down for me. Without it, I probably would have rated this higher.
Liu Miantang
I really liked her.
She is smart, capable, independent, strategic, and she does not suddenly lose her brain just because she falls in love.
Once she learns the truth, she also makes Cui Xingzhou WORK for another chance. 😂
Considering what he did, I cannot even blame her.
Cui Xingzhou
I liked him too, even though his original romantic strategy was basically:
Step 1: Find injured amnesiac woman. Step 2: Pretend to be husband. Step 3: Accidentally fall in love. Step 4: Panic. 😂
Once he genuinely falls for Miantang, though, he is devoted.
After everything blows up, this man basically launches a full-time Please Take Me Back Campaign™.
Eventually he proves that he is willing to respect her independence instead of simply expecting her to fit into his life.
THAT I liked. ❤️
Romance & Chemistry
Zhang Wanyi and Wang Churan worked well together.
The fake-married domestic scenes were cute, and I liked watching Cui Xingzhou slowly stop treating Miantang like part of a plan and realize:
Oh crap. I actually love my fake wife.
😂
The chemistry was good, the relationship eventually gets real payoff, and once they finally reconcile, the romance improves a LOT.
They eventually marry, get proper romantic payoff, and end the drama together.
See?!
THIS is what I wanted.
Unfortunately, I had to survive approximately seventeen lifetimes of romantic suffering before getting there. 🙄
Ending
Cui Xingzhou and Liu Miantang reconcile, marry, and remain together through the finale.
Final status: married, alive, and together. ❤️
My biggest issue was not the ending.
It was surviving the approximately 2,000,000 episodes it took for them to fix the relationship. 😭

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check
Finished all 40 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.
- 💕 Romance
- Strong romantic focus overall, especially during the fake-marriage period and after reconciliation. The long middle estrangement hurts the pacing.
- 🔥 Chemistry
- Good. Zhang Wanyi and Wang Churan have believable romantic and domestic chemistry.
- 💋 Kissing
- Decent, with stronger kisses after the reconciliation. There is proper romantic payoff rather than only implied affection.
- 🤗 Skinship
- Moderate. Plenty of domestic closeness and affectionate husband-and-wife energy.
- 🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
- More than completely innocent romance. There is a passionate bedroom kiss and the marriage is clearly consummated.
- 🚩 ML Red Flag
- Yes. Cui Xingzhou allows an amnesiac Miantang to believe he is her husband and uses the situation for his own plans. He improves considerably and has to earn her trust back.
- 👑 Female Lead Competence
- Excellent. Miantang is intelligent, independent, capable, strategic, and able to protect herself.
- ⏱️ Romance Timing
- Feelings develop fairly early, but the identity reveal causes a long romantic derailment before reconciliation.
- ❤️🔥 Relationship Payoff
- Good once the drama FINALLY gets there. Reconciliation, kisses, marriage, adult intimacy, and a clear happy future together.
- 💔 Breakup
- No clean standard breakup after a firmly established official relationship; the middle conflict is a major romantic rupture/estrangement. Public review joke: “THEY WERE BROKEN UP FOR LIKE 2,000,000 EPISODES.” 😂
- ⏳ Separation / Conflict
- Yes. There is a lengthy multi-episode estrangement while Cui Xingzhou tries to regain Miantang's trust. This is my biggest complaint because it drags.
- 💍 Final Relationship Status
- Married, alive, and together. ❤️
- 📖 Plot
- Fun amnesia/fake-marriage setup with political schemes, hidden identities, and capable leads. The middle relationship conflict lasts much longer than I wanted.
- 🐾 Animal Harm
- No verified major dog or cat harm.
About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating
3.5/5
Good leads, a clever FL, solid chemistry, a devoted ML once he falls, and satisfying married payoff.
But that dragged-out middle relationship mess?
Sir, wrap it up. 😂
