A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

🌸 My Review

Glory really said, “What if we put tea business, murder mysteries, family succession, political corruption, twelve people with secret agendas, and a husband-selection competition into one drama?” 😂

And somehow… it mostly works.

Rong Shanbao is the powerful eldest daughter of the Rong tea family, while Lu Jianglai is a brilliant official who ends up injured, hunted, and temporarily without his memory. She brings her former rival home and turns him into a horse servant because apparently normal flirting was too easy. 😭

From there, the two spend half the drama investigating people and the other half trying to out-scheme each other.

👑 Rong Shanbao

This is the kind of female lead I enjoy.

She is intelligent, strategic, financially capable, and very aware of the power games happening around her. She is not waiting for Lu Jianglai to solve her problems. Half the time, he is trying to figure out what SHE already planned.

Thank you. 😂

The family politics can become exhausting, but watching Shanbao maneuver through them is one of the biggest reasons the drama stayed entertaining.

🐶 Lu Jianglai

Lu Jianglai is arrogant, clever, jealous, manipulative when necessary, and absolutely not the obedient little husband the Rong family supposedly wants.

Which is precisely why he is fun. 😂

He and Shanbao work because neither one is significantly dumber than the other. Their relationship feels like two schemers slowly realizing, “Oh no. I actually like this person.”

And when the choice finally comes down to power/status versus Shanbao, he chooses her.

GOOD BOY. ❤️

❤️ Romance, Chemistry & Payoff

The chemistry is good, especially when they are arguing, testing each other, or pretending they are completely normal about each other when they very obviously are not.

The romance begins developing fairly early, but the drama makes us WORK for the bigger payoff.

Shanbao kisses him around Episode 11. By Episode 19 they are literally preparing to marry… and then Lu Jianglai leaves during the wedding crisis to deal with the investigation.

Sir.

YOUR WEDDING WAS HAPPENING. 😭

I would not count that as a normal breakup, but it absolutely damages the relationship and Shanbao is understandably furious.

Later we get the Episode 28 cheek kiss, and then Episode 29 finally decides we have suffered enough. Shanbao kisses him during their confrontation, they stop pretending, and the drama strongly implies that they spend the night together.

ABOUT TIME. 😂🔥

💭 Why 3.5/5?

Because Glory is entertaining, the leads are smart, the chemistry works, and I liked the power dynamic between Shanbao and Jianglai.

But the drama also wants to do everything at the same time.

Tea politics. Family warfare. Murder mysteries. Government corruption. Succession drama. Suitors everywhere. Secret identities. Another mystery. Another relative with a problem. 😭

There were moments when I wanted the plot to just SIT DOWN.

The romance also has stronger payoff later than I would have preferred. I enjoyed the couple, but I wanted more time simply watching them BE a couple instead of constantly dealing with another conspiracy.

So 3.5/5 feels exactly right.

I enjoyed it. I finished it. I liked the leads.

But it never reached the level where I wanted to grab somebody by the shoulders and scream, “YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW.” 😂

Ending — Happy Ending ❤️

Happy Ending.

Lu Jianglai is given the opportunity to stay with his powerful paternal family and inherit status, but ultimately chooses Rong Shanbao instead.

Shanbao leaves to return to her responsibilities, and Lu Jianglai rides after her. He tells her he intends to spend the rest of his life by her side and joins her on the journey home.

So yes: the main couple ends alive, together, and committed to a future together.

Important accuracy note: they are not shown completing another wedding in the finale, so the final status should be listed as Together / committed to marriage, not “Married.”

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check

Finished all 36 episodes. Full romance and ending spoilers.

💕 Romance
Strong secondary focus, but mystery and family politics frequently compete with it.
🔥 Chemistry
Good. Their best scenes are when they are challenging or outmaneuvering each other.
💋 Kissing
Moderate, with several kisses and stronger payoff later.
🤗 Skinship
Moderate. Shared sleeping space, physical closeness, cheek kiss, hugs/touching.
🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
Moderate for a C-drama. Episode 29 strongly implies they sleep together.
🚩 ML Red Flag
Mild-to-moderate. Scheming, arrogant, jealous, and occasionally threatening when angry, but devoted to Shanbao.
👑 Female Lead Competence
Very high. Shanbao is strategic, capable, politically aware, and one of the strongest parts of the drama.
⏱️ Romance Timing
Attraction starts early; biggest physical/relationship payoff comes later.
❤️‍🔥 Relationship Payoff
Good, especially late in the drama, though I wanted more established-couple time.
💔 Breakup
No formal breakup.
⏳ Separation / Conflict
Yes. The Episode 19 failed wedding creates the main relationship rupture, followed by external family/political conflict.
💍 Final Relationship Status
Together and committed for life; future marriage intended, not shown married on-screen.
📖 Plot
Entertaining and twisty but overloaded with mysteries, family schemes, politics, suitors, and reversals.
🐾 Animal Harm
No significant dog/cat harm verified.
About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

⭐ Final Rating: 3.5/5

Finished. Happy Ending.

Smart FL? ✅ Scheming ML? ✅ Good chemistry? ✅ Actual romantic payoff? ✅ Man eventually choosing her over status and power? ✅

Plot trying to personally manage seventeen separate storylines at once?

ALSO YES. 😂

3.5/5.
