A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
Okay, I loved Zhao Lusi’s acting here. ❤️
Xu Yan is messy, ambitious, calculating, hurt, smart, and sometimes making choices that had me sitting there like, girl… what are you DOING? 😂 But Zhao Lusi made all of it work.
Xu Yan creates this polished version of herself because she is ashamed of where she came from and wants a completely different life. She lies about her family, carefully builds the image she thinks she needs, and gets herself into this seemingly perfect marriage.
Then everything starts cracking.
And honestly, I liked her even more once the perfect-life act started falling apart. She eventually reaches the point where she basically says: fine, take the money, the connections, and the comfortable life. I’ll rebuild myself.
THAT Xu Yan was my favorite. 👀🔥
She is not one of those female leads who sits around waiting for the rich male lead to solve everything. She adapts, works, fails, tries again, and keeps moving.
And Zhao Lusi absolutely carried those emotional changes for me.
Xu Yan & Shen Haoming
These two are basically a marriage chess tournament. 😭
Xu Yan manipulated her way into the life she wanted, while Shen Haoming was nowhere near as clueless as she thought. He is calculating too, and their supposedly perfect relationship has manipulation coming from both directions.
Shen Haoming is also controlling and way too comfortable using his money, influence, and resources to manage situations.
Eventually Xu Yan realizes that what she thought was unconditional love is mixed up with control, strategy, and power.
So she leaves.
And apparently that is when Shen Haoming finally discovers FEELINGS. 😂
Once she stops revolving around him, he starts realizing that he does not just want the perfect wife he had arranged neatly into his life. He actually wants Xu Yan.
Their relationship works much better for me once both of them stop performing and start dealing with each other honestly.
Chemistry, Kissing & Romance
The chemistry is strong. 🔥
This is definitely more of a messy adult marriage / second-chance romance than a fluffy romance, and there are some genuinely good kisses.
The downside for me is the long separation section because you KNOW I do not enjoy watching a couple spend half the drama apart. 😭
Still, their reconciliation actually feels earned because both characters have changed by then instead of just going back to the exact same dysfunctional marriage.
Once they reconcile, the drama thankfully lets them be affectionate and function as a couple again.
The Divorce / Separation Arc
Yes, there is a real breakup.
Xu Yan wants out of the marriage around Episodes 15–16 and they begin the divorce process, but the legal divorce is never finalized.
They remain emotionally separated for a substantial part of the drama and do not truly reconcile until around Episode 28.
So:
- Breakup: Yes
- Legal divorce finalized: No
- Meaningful separation: Yes
- Approximate separation: Episodes 15–28
- Reconciliation: Around Episode 28
- Final status: Still married and genuinely back together
That is definitely longer than I normally like, but at least the separation actually changes their relationship.
Zhao Lusi ❤️
This is the biggest reason this drama got a 4/5 from me.
I loved Zhao Lusi’s acting here.
Xu Yan is not written to be perfectly likable, and GOOD. 😂 Give me complicated women.
She gets to be ambitious, manipulative, angry, vulnerable, smart, selfish, loving, determined, and wounded without turning into a completely different character every episode.
Zhao Lusi made all of those sides feel like the same woman.
Ending — Happy Ending ❤️
Xu Yan and Shen Haoming reconcile for real.
They remain married, are openly affectionate again, support each other, and end the drama functioning as genuine partners instead of continuing the fake-perfect marriage they started with.
So yes: the main couple ends together, married and in love.

About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating: 4/5
I loved Zhao Lusi’s acting here. ❤️
The separation is longer than I normally want, and Shen Haoming definitely needed several episodes of Husband Rehabilitation Camp™, but Zhao Lusi made Xu Yan worth watching.
She absolutely sold the complicated, ambitious, messy woman at the center of this story.
4/5.
