A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
My Boss Review — Another Office Drama 😭
3/5 ⭐⭐⭐ · Finished · Happy Ending
Another office drama. 😭
That pretty much sums up where My Boss landed for me.
Cheng Yao is a rookie lawyer who finally gets hired by a major law firm, only to discover that the annoying man sharing her apartment is Qian Heng—her new boss. So naturally we get the cold perfectionist boss, rookie employee, accidental cohabitation, workplace chaos, and eventually romance.
It isn't bad. There are cute moments, and Qian Heng gets much softer once he falls for Cheng Yao. But I have seen this setup approximately 500 times already. 😂
The romance also takes a while to become official. Qian Heng doesn't confess until Episode 22, and they officially start dating around Episode 23.
Thankfully, they don't pull the whole “confession in the final episode, kiss, roll credits” nonsense.
Once they're together, we actually get dates, kisses, hand-holding, feeding each other, domestic moments, and Qian Heng being hilariously incapable of acting normal around his girlfriend.
I also liked that Cheng Yao eventually pushes back when Qian Heng starts making decisions for her career without asking her. Their Episode 34 conflict isn't a breakup. She's basically telling him, “I am your girlfriend, not your accessory,” which he desperately needed to hear.
So yes, the relationship payoff is decent.
But overall?
Boss + rookie employee + workplace romance + accidental cohabitation.
We've been here before. 😭😂
Ending — Happy Ending ❤️
YES. Happy Ending. ❤️
Qian Heng and Cheng Yao remain together.
In Episode 36, Qian Heng proposes to Cheng Yao and asks her to be his partner for life.
The epilogue confirms their wedding/marriage, with Cheng Yao arranging the wedding celebration herself.
Final status: married, alive, and together.
There is no formal breakup after they become a couple.

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check
Finished all 36 episodes. Full romance, conflict and ending spoilers.
- 💕 Romance
- Good once it finally starts, but it takes more than half the drama for them to officially get together.
- 🔥 Chemistry
- Cute and believable. More fluffy than scorching hot.
- 💋 Kissing
- Good. Multiple real kisses once they're dating, beginning around Episode 23.
- 🤗 Skinship
- Good. Hand-holding, feeding each other, domestic affection, physical closeness, and normal couple behavior.
- 🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
- Low to medium. Romantic and affectionate, but not especially spicy.
- 🚩 ML Red Flag
- Mild to moderate. Qian Heng starts off harsh and later becomes too controlling/paternalistic about Cheng Yao's career. He eventually realizes the problem and adjusts.
- 👑 Female Lead Competence
- Good. Cheng Yao grows from a rookie lawyer into someone increasingly confident about both her career and personal boundaries.
- ⏱️ Romance Timing
- Late-middle. Confession in Episode 22 and official relationship around Episode 23 of 36.
- ❤️🔥 Relationship Payoff
- Good. We get an actual dating period, affection, proposal, and marriage instead of five minutes of romance at the end.
- 💔 Breakup
- No formal breakup.
- ⏳ Separation / Conflict
- Brief relationship conflict/cold period around Episodes 34–35 over Qian Heng making decisions for Cheng Yao without respecting her independence. Not prolonged.
- 💍 Final Relationship Status
- Married, alive, and together. Happy Ending. ❤️
- 📖 Plot
- Legal/workplace rom-com with a very familiar boss/employee setup. Or, as I said: Another office drama. 😭
- 🐾 Animal Harm
- Dog medical distress in Episode 35. Their dog eats chocolate and Qian Heng rushes him to the veterinary hospital for treatment/stomach pumping. The dog survives. No dog death.
About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating
3/5 ⭐⭐⭐ · Finished · Happy Ending
Another office drama. 😭
