A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
My Thoughts
I loved that they were affectionate. ❤️
Okay, one thing Road Home absolutely got right: THE AFFECTION. 😭❤️
I loved that Gui Xiao and Lu Yanchen actually behaved like two people who were in love.
They hug. They kiss. They cuddle. They lean all over each other. Gui Xiao asks him for kisses like it’s the most normal thing in the world. They have those little everyday touches that make a relationship feel believable instead of giving me 30 episodes of two adults staring at each other from six feet away. 😂
That alone made their relationship so much more satisfying for me.
The story is a second-chance romance between childhood sweethearts who broke up when they were young and spent years apart. When they meet again, neither one has really gotten over the other.
And thankfully, once these two finally decide they want each other again, the drama doesn’t keep throwing stupid breakup after stupid breakup at them.
Their original breakup happened years before the present-day story because of long distance, bad timing, family problems, and Lu Yanchen’s demanding career.
Once they reconcile as adults?
No second breakup.
THANK YOU. 😂
❤️ Gui Xiao & Lu Yanchen
Their relationship is easily my favorite part of the drama.
Lu Yanchen is extremely reserved with basically everyone else, but around Gui Xiao you get this much softer version of him.
He’s protective, dependable, domesticated as hell 😂, cooks, cleans, takes care of things around the house, and is clearly completely devoted to her.
Gui Xiao is also refreshingly comfortable showing affection. She isn’t sitting there waiting for him to initiate everything.
She wants a kiss?
She asks for one. 😂❤️
And once they reconnect, the affection keeps going instead of disappearing the second the relationship becomes official.
💋 Chemistry, Kissing & Skinship
This is where Road Home earns points from me.
The kisses aren’t just one awkward finale kiss thrown in to satisfy the audience.
There are multiple kisses, hugs, cuddles, playful moments, physical closeness, and casual affection throughout the relationship.
They actually feel like two adults who are comfortable being in love with each other.
And THAT is what I liked most about this drama. ❤️
💍 Marriage & Family
Ending
The relationship actually goes somewhere.
Gui Xiao and Lu Yanchen move from reconnecting to fully committing to each other.
They get legally married, Gui Xiao becomes pregnant, and later Lu Yanchen is seriously injured during a mission and ends up unconscious in the hospital while she is nearing childbirth.
Thankfully, he survives.
Gui Xiao safely gives birth to their daughter, and the family is reunited.
They also get their wedding ceremony.
So yes:
Marriage. Baby. Wedding. Family. Happy ending.
We got the payoff. 😂❤️

- 🔥 Chemistry
- Strong, especially once they reconnect and become comfortable together.
- 💋 Kissing
- Good. Multiple kisses with actual romantic payoff.
- 🤗 Skinship
- Excellent. ❤️ Hugging, cuddling, leaning on each other, casual touching, and natural physical affection.

About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating
Road Home gets a 3.5/5 from me.
The biggest thing I loved was simply how affectionate Gui Xiao and Lu Yanchen were. ❤️
They weren’t one of those couples who finally confess and then suddenly behave like coworkers. 😂
They kiss. They hug. They cuddle. They want to be around each other. They’re comfortable touching each other.
And once they get their second chance, they actually commit to the relationship instead of destroying it with another stupid breakup.
Plus we get actual relationship progression all the way to marriage, pregnancy, a baby, a wedding, and a happy family.
That’s how you give me relationship payoff. 😭❤️
⭐ 3.5/5
