A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL

🌸 My Review

Till the End of the Moon is basically one giant “how much suffering can we fit into 40 episodes?” experiment. 😭

Li Susu travels 500 years into the past to stop Tantai Jin from becoming the Devil God who destroys her world. The problem? She lands in the body of Ye Xiwu, who is already his wife.

So instead of simply eliminating the future villain, she starts learning who he actually is. Tantai Jin gradually learns love, attachment, jealousy, and humanity because of her, while she slowly realizes that the man standing in front of her is not exactly the monster she expected.

And then the drama says:

Oh, you're emotionally invested now? Excellent. SUFFER. 😂

The romance has that intense fate/obsession/enemies-to-lovers-but-also-married energy, and Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu absolutely sell the emotional mess.

But once these two finally start feeling like an actual couple, the drama refuses to let them have five minutes of peace.

The Episode 26 wedding especially hurt because what should have been romantic turns into Ye Xiwu using the wedding night to attack Tantai Jin with the Soul-Slaying Spikes while telling him her love was a lie.

That is not exactly the marital bliss package. 😭

Then we get betrayal, death, identity changes, immortal nonsense, demon nonsense, approximately 500 years of separation, and enough blood-spitting to personally support the fake-blood industry.

And then we get THAT ending. 🙄

Nope.

I did not like the ending.

Tantai Jin ultimately sacrifices himself so Li Susu can defeat the final threat.

Five hundred years later, Li Susu is alive and raising their daughter.

Tantai Jin?

Still gone.

The ending suggests that some remnant or essence of him survives inside the Heart-Guarding Scale, which leaves open the possibility that he could eventually return.

But the drama never actually reunites them.

So after everything these two put me through, the drama basically gave me:

“Don't worry! He might come back someday!”

Sir. 😑

I watched 40 episodes.

I would like my man physically returned to his wife, please. 😂

🌙 Ending Status

Ending

Ambiguous/Open Ending — bittersweet in tone.

The main couple does not end the drama physically together.

Tantai Jin sacrifices himself. Li Susu survives with their daughter. His remaining essence is hinted to exist within the Heart-Guarding Scale, leaving hope that he may eventually return.

But that reunion does not happen on-screen.

Definitely not going in my Happy Ending pile.

RELATIONSHIP MILESTONES

❤️ Relationship Timeline — Tantai Jin × Li Susu / Ye Xiwu

Already married, but genuine romance develops later. A catastrophic relationship rupture, death, and approximately 500 years apart lead into the later immortal arc. Their final sacrifice does not lead to an on-screen reunion.

  1. Attraction

Tantai Jin becomes attached first; Li Susu/Ye Xiwu’s genuine feelings develop more slowly because of her mission.

  2. First major romantic stretch

    Around Episodes 22–24.

  3. First clearly romantic main-timeline kiss

    Around Episode 24.

  4. Confession

Around Episode 22, Tantai Jin openly expresses his love and asks her not to leave him.

  5. Official relationship

They are technically married before the story begins, but genuine mutual romance develops around Episodes 22–24.

  6. Marriage

Already married; another formal wedding occurs around Episode 26.

  7. Breakup

No conventional formal breakup. Episode 26 causes a catastrophic relationship rupture after Ye Xiwu attacks him and claims her love was fake.

  8. Separation

Ye Xiwu dies around Episode 28, followed by approximately 500 years apart.

  9. Reunion

They meet again in the later immortal arc.

  10. Final relationship status

Still love each other and have a daughter, but not physically together at the end.

Final Relationship Status

In love and have a daughter together, but not physically reunited on-screen.

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check

Finished all 40 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.

💕 Romance
Heavy romance, but buried under fate, trauma, betrayal, and sacrifice.
🔥 Chemistry
Strong. Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu sell the emotionally messy connection.
💋 Kissing
Moderate. Real kisses, but definitely not a fluffy kiss-fest.
🤗 Skinship
Moderate — hugs, carrying, married moments, and physical affection when the plot gives them five minutes of peace.
🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
Low–moderate. Later intimacy is implied rather than explicit.
🚩 ML Red Flag
High in parts. Tantai Jin can be possessive, obsessive, violent, controlling, and emotionally unstable, although his arc centers on learning humanity and choosing differently.
👑 Female Lead Competence
High. Li Susu is powerful, determined, and mission-focused.
⏱️ Romance Timing
Medium. They are married from the beginning, but genuine mutual romance takes much longer to fully develop.
❤️‍🔥 Relationship Payoff
Frustrating. Strong emotional buildup, terrible payoff if you require the couple physically together at the end.
💔 Breakup
No straightforward formal breakup. There is a massive relationship rupture instead.
⏳ Separation / Conflict
EXTREME. Death, betrayal, misunderstandings, identity changes, and roughly 500 years of separation.
💍 Final Relationship Status
In love and have a daughter together, but not reunited on-screen.
📖 Plot
Very ambitious xianxia with time travel, fate, war, gods, demons, dream lives, sacrifice, and approximately one emotional crisis every twelve minutes.
🐾 Animal Harm
No major dog/cat harm verified; fantasy creature and battle violence occur.
About these assessments

My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.

⭐ Final Rating

⭐ Final Thoughts

I finished it, so clearly it kept me watching, but I did not like that ending.

After all that suffering, Tantai Jin and Li Susu deserved more than “his essence is hanging out in a magical scale somewhere, maybe he'll come back.” 😭

Give that woman her husband back.

3/5. 🌙💔
