A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
You Are My Secret? It should’ve stayed that way. 😂
I remembered why I couldn't give this one a 3.5.
It bored me. 😭
Tu Xiaoning and Ji Yuheng are actually a cute couple. Ji Yuheng has liked her since their school days, they reconnect as adults, start heading toward marriage, and then discover that he is going to be her boss.
So now we have a secret office romance because apparently working at a bank wasn't complicated enough already. 😂
And honestly, the relationship itself isn't really the problem.
Ji Yuheng is steady, attentive, protective, and very obviously devoted to Xiaoning. He remembers little things, takes care of her when she's sick, supports her professionally, and doesn't spend the entire drama inventing reasons to dump her.
Their first kiss is in Episode 9, and in Episode 13 he finally properly confesses that he likes her. After that, the romance has actual progress instead of waiting until the finale to remember this is supposed to be a romance.
They kiss, cuddle, live together, take care of each other, and generally have comfortable established-couple energy.
And THANKFULLY:
No stupid main-couple breakup. 🙌
They have workplace problems, jealousy, secrecy, career issues, and people getting in their business, but they don't spend half the drama breaking up and getting back together.
So why only 3/5?
Because there are 32 episodes, and somewhere between the banking storylines, coworkers, clients, office politics, career maneuvering, and more banking storylines, my attention apparently filed for early retirement. 😭
The couple was cute.
The ML was devoted.
The relationship was stable.
But the drama itself?
Bored me.
And somehow these two spend almost the entire drama acting married before finally getting themselves legally registered in Episode 31.
Sir.
Ma'am.
The Civil Affairs Bureau was not on another continent. 😂
They do eventually get there. Ji Yuheng proposes, they legally register their marriage, make the relationship public, and Episode 32 gives us wedding material and a one-year time jump showing them still happily together.
So yes, the romance delivers.
I just wish the rest of the drama had delivered enough caffeine to keep me awake.
You Are My Secret. It should've stayed that way. 😂
Ending
Happy Ending. ❤️
Ji Yuheng and Tu Xiaoning do not break up.
In Episode 31, Ji Yuheng proposes and they finally go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and legally register their marriage. They also publicly reveal their relationship.
Episode 32 gives them their wedding/wedding-photo sequence by the sea. The story then jumps ahead one year, and Tu Xiaoning and Ji Yuheng remain happily together while her career continues to develop.
Final status: married, alive, together.

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check
Finished all 32 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.
- 💕 Romance
- Strong. The romance is central, develops well before the finale, and includes plenty of established-couple material.
- 🔥 Chemistry
- Good. Zhang Jianing and Wei Zheming have comfortable, believable couple chemistry, especially once the relationship settles in.
- 💋 Kissing
- Good. Multiple kisses, beginning with the first kiss in Episode 9, with better romantic payoff after the confession.
- 🤗 Skinship
- Good. Hugs, cuddling, caretaking, living-together affection, and comfortable physical closeness.
- 🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
- Low to moderate. They have definite adult-couple energy and implied intimacy, but the drama remains fairly restrained onscreen.
- 🚩 ML Red Flag
- Low. Ji Yuheng can be jealous and protective, but he is generally supportive, attentive, respectful, and extremely devoted to Xiaoning.
- 👑 Female Lead Competence
- Solid. Xiaoning works hard, handles professional responsibilities, develops in her career, and isn't helpless.
- ⏱️ Romance Timing
- Good. The relationship begins developing immediately, first kiss is Episode 9, and the explicit confession arrives in Episode 13.
- ❤️🔥 Relationship Payoff
- Good. Established relationship, affection, no main-couple breakup, proposal, legal marriage, wedding material, and a happy future together.
- 💔 Breakup
- None for the main couple.
- ⏳ Separation / Conflict
- Low to moderate. Most conflict comes from work, secrecy, jealousy, and outside interference rather than prolonged separation.
- 💍 Final Relationship Status
- Married, alive, together. Happy Ending. ❤️
- 📖 Plot
- This is where it lost me. There is way too much workplace/banking material for a drama that runs 32 episodes. The romance is cute, but the surrounding plot bored me.
- 🐾 Animal Harm
- No significant dog/cat harm or major animal-harm storyline identified.
About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating
⭐ 3/5
The romance is cute, the relationship is stable, Ji Yuheng is devoted, and I appreciate that they don't throw in a stupid main-couple breakup just for drama.
Unfortunately, none of that changes the fact that this thing bored me. 😭
You Are My Secret? It should've stayed that way. 😂
