THE C-DRAMA JOURNAL

❤️ 6 C-Dramas With No Major Breakup — Because I’m Tired of Relationship Nonsense

Fictional historical couple smiling together at home and holding hands

I recently wrote an entire article explaining the difference between a breakup and a separation in C-Dramas because apparently this distinction has become my personal crusade. 😂

So naturally, the next question is:

Okay, but which C-Dramas DON'T actually break the main couple up?

Because sometimes I just want to watch two people fall in love and then—stay with me here—remain in love.

Revolutionary concept. 😭

No:

“I'm leaving you for your own good.”

No random mother handing the female lead a check.

No misunderstanding that could have been solved with one text message.

No relationship ending three episodes after I waited 25 episodes for it to begin.

These are C-Dramas where the established main couple does not have an actual romantic breakup.

That does NOT mean every drama below is free from conflict or separation.

Because as I explained in Breakup vs. Separation in C-Dramas: Why the Difference Matters, those are not the same thing.

Some of these couples deal with work, distance, fantasy nonsense, family problems, or approximately seventeen different ways for a screenwriter to make everybody suffer.

But the relationship itself?

Still standing. ❤️

And yes, spoilers are coming.

Obviously. 😂

❤️ 1. You Are My Glory / 你是我的荣耀

Year: 2021
Episodes: 32
Platform: WeTV
Leads: Yang Yang & Dilraba Dilmurat
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

If somebody asks me for a drama where the writers simply let the main couple be happy together, You Are My Glory is one of the first dramas that comes to mind.

Qiao Jingjing is a famous actress. Yu Tu is an aerospace engineer and her former high-school crush.

They reconnect years later through gaming, become close, and eventually fall in love.

There is a rejection around Episode 15, but—and this is exactly why terminology matters—they are not a couple yet.

You cannot break up before becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.

I will apparently die on this hill. 😂

Once Jingjing and Yu Tu actually get together, there is no real breakup.

Yu Tu's career creates periods where they cannot constantly be together, but their relationship remains committed.

And instead of manufacturing relationship drama every five minutes, the show lets us watch them:

  • flirt
  • kiss
  • support each other
  • deal with demanding careers
  • become an actual adult couple
  • eventually get married

Imagine letting your romantic leads communicate.

Beautiful. 😭❤️

Romance / Chemistry: High
Kissing / Affection: Strong
Separation: Work-related distance, not a breakup
Final relationship status: Married and together

Why I like it

Because once Yu Tu decides this woman is his woman, that decision is basically final.

No unnecessary relationship reset button.

Thank you.

💋 2. My Little Happiness / 我的小确幸

Year: 2021
Episodes: 28
Platform: WeTV
Leads: Xing Fei & Tang Xiaotian
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

If your main concern is:

“Okay, but are they actually romantic after getting together?”

Yes.

Very much yes. 😂

Cong Rong wants to become a lawyer and returns to China despite her mother's plans for her future.

Then she runs into Wen Shaoqing, a surgeon who also happens to have a connection to her past.

And Wen Shaoqing is not one of those male leads who spends 20 episodes asking himself whether he likes the female lead.

Sir knows.

Sir proceeds accordingly. 😂

The relationship becomes official around Episode 13, which means we get a decent amount of the drama with them actually being a couple.

There is conflict.

There are career issues.

There are other people.

But there is no genuine romantic breakup between the leads.

And most importantly, this drama understands something very important:

If I watched two people fall in love, I would also like to WATCH THEM BE IN LOVE.

Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

Romance / Chemistry: High
Kissing: Very good
Skinship: Plenty
Breakup: None
Final relationship status: Married in the finale

Why it works

Wen Shaoqing is persistent, affectionate, confident about his feelings, and very clearly interested in his girlfriend.

There is actual romantic payoff instead of 27 episodes of longing followed by one forehead kiss.

Blessings upon this household. 😂❤️

❄️ 3. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love / 在暴雪时分

Year: 2024
Episodes: 30
Platform: WeTV
Leads: Wu Lei & Zhao Jinmai
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

This drama is basically:

What if two attractive people fell in love in Finland and then continued liking each other for the rest of the drama?

Apparently THAT was enough to make me happy. 😂

Lin Yiyang is a former professional snooker player.

Yin Guo is a competitive nine-ball player.

They meet during a snowstorm, and their relationship develops without the drama constantly trying to convince us they should not be together.

Once they're committed, they stay committed.

Their careers mean they sometimes have to be physically apart.

That is:

⏳ Separation.

Not:

💔 Breakup.

Nobody suddenly announces that loving the other person is destroying their future.

Nobody dates somebody else for character development.

Nobody spends six episodes believing a ridiculous rumor.

They miss each other.

Then they see each other again.

Like normal people. 😭

Romance / Chemistry: Strong
Kissing / Skinship: Plenty
Relationship vibe: Healthy and supportive
Breakup: None
Separation: Geographic and career-related
Final relationship status: Married; the ending continues their family future

Why it works

The biggest appeal is that Lin Yiyang and Yin Guo genuinely seem to like being together.

I should not have to praise dramas for this.

And yet here we are. 😂

🧠 4. Genius Girlfriend / 天才,女友

Year: 2026
Episodes: 28
Platform: iQIYI
Leads: Tian Xiwei & Hu Yitian
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

This one is PERFECT for explaining why I separate breakups from separations.

Lin Zhixia and Jiang Yubai develop a close relationship while they're young.

Then life happens.

There is a roughly five-year no-contact period.

Which sounds horrifying if somebody tells you:

“They break up for five years.”

Except they don't.

THEY WERE NOT A COUPLE YET. 😭😂

The five-year gap happens before their official romantic relationship begins.

So yes:

Major pre-relationship separation? Absolutely.

Breakup? No.

Their first kiss, confession, and official relationship all come around Episode 26.

The proposal follows in Episode 28, and the later epilogue confirms that they marry.

The warning

This is absolutely one of the later-romance dramas on this list.

So if you want 15 episodes of established dating, this is not the one.

But if your specific concern is whether the writers finally get them together and then immediately break them apart again:

No.

Once they are officially together, the drama does not give them a romantic breakup.

Romance timing: Late
Chemistry: Sweet
Breakup: None
Major separation: Five-year no-contact period BEFORE dating
Final relationship status: Married, alive, and together

And once again:

You cannot have a five-year breakup with somebody who was not your boyfriend.

I have spoken. 😂

🌸 5. A Lucid Dream / 不知剧情也无妨

Year: 2024
Episodes: 18
Platform: WeTV
Leads: Wang Yajia & Cheng Yufeng
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

This drama starts by making you wonder what exactly is real.

Zhang Yimeng believes she has traveled into an ancient world where she is a princess.

And Jingcheng?

Jingcheng is part of a much larger twist involving her present-day life.

I am not going to pretend the premise is normal.

It is not. 😂

But romantically?

This one gave me something I appreciate enormously:

A devoted male lead who does not spend the drama running away from the relationship.

There is no actual romantic breakup and no prolonged breakup cycle.

Jingcheng is protective, deeply devoted, and stays emotionally centered on Yimeng.

The drama has plenty of plot weirdness.

The relationship itself is not the problem.

Romance / Chemistry: Strong
ML devotion: VERY high
Breakup: None
Prolonged romantic separation: None
Final relationship status: Together
Ending: Happy

Why it works

Because the plot can be losing its mind while the man remains focused. 😂

I can work with that.

🔥 6. A Dream Within a Dream / 书卷一梦

Year: 2025
Episodes: 40
Platform: iQIYI
Leads: Li Yitong & Liu Yuning
Ending: Happy Ending
Actual Breakup: NO

Now we arrive at the entry where I need to clarify:

No breakup does not mean no suffering.

Because this drama is INSANE. 😂

Song Xiaoyu finds herself trapped inside a script where the story seems determined to force her through its original tragic plot.

Nan Heng is the male lead tied to that script.

So naturally, the universe spends a substantial amount of time trying to make everybody miserable.

There are:

  • dangerous plot loops
  • forced story events
  • deaths and resets
  • fantasy chaos
  • dramatic conflict
  • enough nonsense to make me yell at the screen

But the main romance does not include a genuine established-relationship breakup.

That's important.

They move toward commitment instead of repeatedly undoing the romance every time the plot needs drama.

Nan Heng proposes around Episode 31.

She accepts around Episode 32.

They are married within the script world by around Episode 35.

And the ending confirms that their romantic connection continues.

Romance / Chemistry: High
Kissing: Good
Devoted ML: Yes
Breakup: None
Conflict: Oh, PLENTY. 😂
Final relationship status: Together, with marriage established within the story

Why it works

Because the drama found approximately 700 other ways to create chaos without repeatedly making the couple say:

“We should break up.”

See?

IT CAN BE DONE. 😂

💔 No Breakup Does NOT Mean No Conflict

This is the part I really want people to understand.

These labels are not interchangeable.

A drama can have:

0 breakups

and still contain:

  • long distance
  • work separation
  • family problems
  • arguments
  • emotional conflict
  • presumed death
  • fantasy separation
  • time skips
  • pre-relationship no-contact periods

That is why I track Breakup and Separation / Conflict separately in every review.

Because compare:

You Are My Glory

No breakup + some work distance.

versus:

Genius Girlfriend

No breakup + roughly five years apart before they even start dating.

Those are VERY different viewing experiences.

Both technically have:

💔 Breakup: None

But I would never pretend the emotional road is identical.

❤️ Which One Has the Most Relationship Payoff?

If your priority is seeing the leads spend a substantial amount of time as an actual established couple, I would look first at:

You Are My Glory

My Little Happiness

and

Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

Those dramas give you something I desperately wish romance writers understood:

The relationship itself can be part of the story.

Getting together does not have to mean the plot is over.

Let them date.

Let them kiss.

Let them support each other.

Let them argue without filing an emotional divorce.

Let them get married.

Let me enjoy my reward for sitting through the courtship. 😂❤️

⚠️ One Important Warning About “No Breakup” Lists

Whenever you see somebody recommend a drama because it has “no breakup,” ask one more question:

Does it have a major separation?

Because these are NOT the same promise.

A drama could technically have zero breakups while sending the male lead to war for eight years.

That may still ruin the experience for somebody who wants a stable, consistently present romance.

This is exactly why I created my Drama Reality Check.

I want to know both:

💔 Breakup

and

⏳ Separation / Conflict

before I invest 30 hours of my life.

I have been burned before.

I have trust issues now. 😂

🌸 The Short Version

If you want a romance where the established couple does not actually break up:

❤️ You Are My Glory

No breakup. Work-related distance only. Ends married.

💋 My Little Happiness

No breakup. Plenty of established-couple romance. Ends married.

❄️ Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

No breakup. Career/geographic distance only. Happy married future.

🧠 Genius Girlfriend

No breakup. Major five-year separation occurs BEFORE they officially date. Ends married.

🌸 A Lucid Dream

No breakup. Devoted ML, no prolonged romantic separation. Happy ending together.

🔥 A Dream Within a Dream

No breakup. Lots of fantasy conflict and chaos, but the relationship itself survives. Happy ending together.

And that, my friends, is all I am asking for.

Let the main couple fall in love.

Let them become official.

And then perhaps—

leave them the hell alone. 😂❤️
