A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
😂 The company made money. My romance account stayed bankrupt.
The premise of No Pain No Gain is genuinely funny. Pei Qian gets handed the weirdest business mission imaginable: start a company and LOSE money.
So naturally, he gives employees good salaries, generous benefits, plenty of time off, and throws money into projects he thinks are destined to fail.
And these people absolutely refuse to let this poor man fail in peace. 😭😂
Every terrible business decision somehow becomes profitable, everyone thinks Pei Qian is a genius, and meanwhile he is internally screaming because SUCCESS IS LITERALLY HIS PROBLEM.
That part worked for me.
But then we have the biggest problem:
WHERE. IS. MY. ROMANCE. 🙄
Pei Qian and Lin Wan have enough cute moments, trust, and potential chemistry that the drama clearly knows people are going to ship them.
And then… nothing actually happens.
No confession. No dating. No proper romantic payoff. No official relationship. No marriage.
Sir. You successfully built an entire corporation but could not establish ONE romantic relationship in 26 episodes??? 😭
⭐ Why I Gave It 3/5
3/5 feels right for me because:
- 😂 The concept is clever and funny.
- ❤️ The Tengda employees become a genuinely likable little work family.
- 🎭 Pei Qian's constant suffering because he keeps accidentally succeeding is hilarious.
- ✨ The company/team storyline gets satisfying emotional payoff.
- 🔁 But the formula of “Pei Qian tries to lose money → everyone accidentally makes him richer” eventually becomes repetitive.
- 💕 Most importantly for me, there is basically no actual romance payoff.
- 😭 Pei Qian + Lin Wan had enough potential to make me want something, and the drama simply refuses to give it to me.
It isn't bad. I had fun with the ridiculous business chaos.
But a drama that gives me 26 episodes of possible CP energy and never actually confirms the couple was never escaping my 3-star zone. 😂
🏢 Ending — SPOILERS
The business/team ending is satisfying.
Pei Qian eventually has to decide what Tengda and the people around him actually mean to him. The company faces a major shutdown/disbandment crisis, but the team ultimately comes back together and Tengda gets another chance.
So:
Overall Ending: ✅ Happy Ending
But romantically:
Pei Qian + Lin Wan: ❌ NOT officially together
The drama leaves affection and partnership between them, but never turns it into an explicit romantic relationship.
And I am judging them for it. 👀

About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating: 3/5
3/5
Good workplace comedy. Cute team. Funny concept. Satisfying business ending.
But I came looking for romance and Pei Qian apparently spent the entire romance budget on employee benefits. 😭😂
3/5.
