A PERSONAL VIEWING JOURNAL
🌸 My Review
I actually liked Wang Fa and Lin Wanxing together.
The problem?
I am not a slow-burn girl. 😭
This drama really looked me in the face for most of its 32 episodes and said, “You can wait.”
No, I cannot. 😂
The attraction develops naturally and Wang Fa becomes very sweet and devoted once his feelings are obvious, but the drama makes us wait until around Episode 25 for both the first proper kiss and the official relationship.
TWENTY-FIVE.
At that point I felt like I had personally earned their relationship certificate. 😭
The romance is also only one part of the story. There is a lot of focus on the struggling school football team, the students, Lin Wanxing rebuilding her life, and the mystery surrounding the scandal that destroyed her academic reputation.
So I understand WHY the romance is slow.
That does not mean I suddenly enjoy slow burn. 😂
❤️ Wang Fa & Lin Wanxing
Their relationship develops gradually from suspicion and tension into trust, attraction, and eventually a real partnership.
Wang Fa initially has questionable motives because he approaches Lin Wanxing while investigating whether she was connected to the death of his former player.
Once he realizes she is not the person he thought she was, he becomes much softer toward her.
And when this man falls, he FALLS.
He takes care of her when she is sick, supports her goals, tries to repair the damage caused by his earlier distrust, and eventually becomes the kind of devoted ML I normally like.
I just wish the drama had let me enjoy Boyfriend Wang Fa for more than the final stretch. 😭
💋 Romance & Chemistry
The chemistry is good.
The romance progression is just very restrained.
There are multiple almost-romantic moments before the drama finally commits, including interrupted almost-kisses.
The first completed kiss and official relationship arrive around Episode 25.
Once they are together, the relationship is fairly stable.
There is a temporary separation shortly afterward when Lin Wanxing leaves after her old scandal resurfaces, but they do NOT formally break up.
Wang Fa goes after her and they reunite.
Thank goodness, because after waiting 25 episodes for these people to date, I would have thrown something if they immediately broke up. 🙄😂
❤️ Ending
Happy Ending.
Lin Wanxing clears her name and returns to her doctoral studies.
Wang Fa continues working with young athletes.
After the later time jump, the two are still together and their relationship remains intact.
There is no wedding or engagement, but they are alive, together, and still dating.
So yes, the romance pays off.
I just needed that payoff approximately ten episodes sooner. 😭

💗 Shen Zhiyi’s Drama Reality Check
Finished all 32 episodes. Full relationship and ending spoilers.
- 💕 Romance
- Moderate — important, but shares major screen time with football, youth development, healing, and mystery.
- 🔥 Chemistry
- Good — the attraction works even though the drama keeps the romance simmering forever.
- 💋 Kissing
- Low to moderate — first completed kiss arrives very late, around Episode 25.
- 🤗 Skinship
- Moderate — caretaking, hugs, closeness, and affectionate gestures.
- 🌶️ Spiciness / Adult Intimacy
- Mild — some stronger romantic tension later, but nothing especially explicit.
- 🚩 ML Red Flag
- Low to moderate early on — Wang Fa initially investigates Lin Wanxing and approaches her with hidden motives, but later admits the truth and rebuilds trust.
- 👑 Female Lead Competence
- High — educated, perceptive, capable with the students, and eventually confronts the people responsible for ruining her reputation.
- ⏱️ Romance Timing
- VERY SLOW. 😭 First kiss and official relationship around Episode 25 of 32.
- ❤️🔥 Relationship Payoff
- Moderate to good — sweet once it finally arrives, but Shen Zhiyi wanted much more actual couple time.
- 💔 Breakup
- None.
- ⏳ Separation / Conflict
- Major trust conflict before dating; brief physical separation around Episodes 26–27 after they become a couple.
- 💍 Final Relationship Status
- ❤️ Dating, alive, together. No engagement or marriage.
- 📖 Plot
- Youth/sports healing story mixed with academic scandal, personal recovery, mystery, and romance.
- 🐾 Animal Harm
- A dog becomes seriously ill and vomits but receives veterinary treatment and survives. No confirmed dog/cat death.
About these assessments
My impressions cover what I watched. Later research is labeled on dropped reviews. Kissing, affection and adult intimacy are separate; coercion does not count as romantic spice. Being apart does not automatically mean a breakup.
⭐ Final Rating: 3.5/5
I liked the couple. I liked Wang Fa once he turned into devoted-boyfriend mode. And the ending gives them a stable, happy future together.
But Episode 25 before the first kiss AND official relationship?
Sir.
I have things to do. 😭😂
3.5/5 — good chemistry, sweet couple, happy ending, but the slow burn absolutely cost it points.
